JG Rolls is still there - until last month they still had a sign above it which had the old 0602 area code! It's just been replaced and looks much more up to date now! The road sign says wath but its pronounced worth.. Hence everyone who sends you a letter getting it wrong lol

Thanks for the replies, that's really interesting. I always wondered what Coningswath meant. It's a strange looking word and everyone spells it wrong! Will look into the eve post and also try to get hold of some local history books from the library

Hi Always wondered what the history is of the council houses on Coningswath rd in Carlton. Does anyone know? We're they built for miners? What era were they built? Does anyone know of an Irene Johnson who would have lived in one of the houses in 1950? (We have her name written on our outside wall in pen I think?) Does anyone have any photos of her in the property (long shot I know). Would love to know some history. Thanks
