  1. At the exit to Broad Marsh Bus Station, opposite the Town Arms there wasa very good Gents Outfitters - Dunns - anyone remeber. Also on the way out of BM there was a block of toilets on the right, a cafe and another pub, just forget the name. Incidentally, you can still see the 'Broad Marsh' road sign if you look up as you leave the poresent BM shopping centre.
  2. Spot on Charlie - I certainly remember my childhood days in the 50s and 60s with fondness! If you saw a copper walking down the street towards you, you were wondering what you had done (respect for the law) and if a copper stopped you for some minor misdameaner and took your name in his little black book you would be worried sick for the next couple of weeks in case you got the 'knock on the door'.
  3. 21106 - but it's a dead un now Big Kris, what was your army Number Kris - I'll try claiming your pension!
  4. Thanks for your dedication Mick - I tried about 3 or 4 times to log on yesterday but to no avail, thanks again Mick, really enjoy the site.
  5. Thanks for that Mick, just what I wanted to know! I'll still partake though.
  6. One of my favourite dishes, tripe, either cooked with onions and mashed spuds or raw with lots of pepper and vinegar. You can't seem to get it now.
  7. I echoe all the sentiments already passed on this thread. My condolences to Ann's family
  8. Couldn't agree more, Limey. Guilty as ever, Does the State where he was tried have the death penalty?, that's what he deserves.
  9. $4 a gallon, wow!, thats about £2 isn't it, I know that the US gallon is smaller than the UK gallon but it's still cheap when compared to UK prices - I'm waiting for the revolution!
  10. I thought that there was a campaign a year or so ago to get the road humps from Clifton removed! What ever happened to that? Maybe we should send the City Council repair bills for broken suspension, new tracking etc!
  11. I was an avid listener to 'SAGA' when it was run by local people for local people, (particulary Ron Coles, played the 50's and 60's music). Then came Smooth radio and like everyone is saying it all went downhill from there, I now listen to BBC Radio Nottingfham and have noticed that the midday Sunday programme is hosted by David Lloyd, an ex SAGA man, so even the presenters are moving!
  12. Sir Brian Clough would be proud, Well done the 'Reds'.
  13. Went into Petmark last week and asked how long they would be there now that all around them was gone, the lady said that they had at least another year - can't see it but time will tell!
  14. Has any one tried the new pub on Queens Drive yet? (the old Harry Ramsden Fish bar) looks like a plastic pub to me!
  15. I keep saying it - but I know of only a couple of 'GOOD' pubs, namely, Vat & Fiddle, and the Victoria (Beeston) What do you say BIP?
  16. Does anyone remember the 'TONIGHT' programme hosted by Cliff Mitchelmore? At the end of each show we were treated to a song by Cy Grant playing a guitar.
  17. Sunday Night at the London Palladium (with Beat the Clock (Brucie)) Emergency Ward 10 Cisso Kid Wagon Train Take Your Pick Double your Money There must be loads more
  18. Seems my PM in response to your comment didn't make it.

Your name seems familiar, but I only moved to Clifton estate when we were moved from the Meadows when they decided to demolish the area.

I did work at BPB's Marblaegis mine when I was living at Clifton. But I was educated at Huntingdon Street School.

  19. My first car was a Morris 1100 which I bought for £80. Had to have a new sub frame, which they were notorious for. Transverse engine which gave the car a lot more interior room than it would appear from the outside. Must say it was a very comfortable ride. Had a total of 16 cars to date, my favourite was a 1966 Triumph Herald 12/50, HDB970D, did all my courting in that - oh happy days!
  20. 1. Vat and Fiddle 2. Lady Bay 3. Langtry's 4. Stratford Haven 5. Tap and Tumbler (Loughborough) All sell the REAL stuff!!!!
  21. Just a bit of daft! Does anyone out there of a certain age, remember when you went to Skeggy or Mablethorpe with your Pa and Ma way back in the fifties early sixties, when you were met at the railway station by a hoard of lads with homemade carts asking if they could take your cases to your guest house, caravan site etc. Real enterprise that would be unheard of today unfortunately. They probably expected about a shilling for their efforts and many were pleased to pay, not knowing where their Guesthouse was located etc. Oh how the World has changed! and not for the better I must say. !tan
  22. Have a good one BIP, Nip into the Vat & Fiddle - they have at least 10 REAL ales on, but I supose there's no need to tell you that mate!!
  23. Hi BIP. I have only heard the King singing 'Blue Christmas' once - that's bad aint it!!!!!
