  1. At the exit to Broad Marsh Bus Station, opposite the Town Arms there wasa very good Gents Outfitters - Dunns - anyone remeber. Also on the way out of BM there was a block of toilets on the right, a cafe and another pub, just forget the name. Incidentally, you can still see the 'Broad Marsh' road sign if you look up as you leave the poresent BM shopping centre.

  2. Spot on Charlie - I certainly remember my childhood days in the 50s and 60s with fondness! If you saw a copper walking down the street towards you, you were wondering what you had done (respect for the law) and if a copper stopped you for some minor misdameaner and took your name in his little black book you would be worried sick for the next couple of weeks in case you got the 'knock on the door'.

  3. Nah - I'd still give 'em the finger, and blow past 'em as soon as you can!

With gas hitting $4/gallon here, we have developed a new breed of SUV drivers that seem to be scared of pressing the gas pedal! It is driving me nuts!

$4 a gallon, wow!, thats about £2 isn't it, I know that the US gallon is smaller than the UK gallon but it's still cheap when compared to UK prices - I'm waiting for the revolution!

  4. Road humps, thats my gripe, whats the point in these? any modern motor car can easily get upto 60mph between them, I dont even bother slowing down anymore I just keep the offside wheels on the roadside of the hump.

Weve all got enough common sense when there is a need to drop our speed, Im sick to death of the political pr@ts dictating to us and treating us all like children.

    THIS WEEKS COMPETITION IS:

HOW MANY ROAD HUMPS ARE IN CLIFTON??

THE WINNER WILL GET A FREE UNDER VEHICLE DAMAGE CHECK.

I thought that there was a campaign a year or so ago to get the road humps from Clifton removed! What ever happened to that? Maybe we should send the City Council repair bills for broken suspension, new tracking etc! abouttime

  5. I was an avid listener to 'SAGA' when it was run by local people for local people, (particulary Ron Coles, played the 50's and 60's music). Then came Smooth radio and like everyone is saying it all went downhill from there, I now listen to BBC Radio Nottingfham and have noticed that the midday Sunday programme is hosted by David Lloyd, an ex SAGA man, so even the presenters are moving!

  6. My first car was a Morris 1100 which I bought for £80. Had to have a new sub frame, which they were notorious for. Transverse engine which gave the car a lot more interior room than it would appear from the outside. Must say it was a very comfortable ride. Had a total of 16 cars to date, my favourite was a 1966 Triumph Herald 12/50, HDB970D, did all my courting in that - oh happy days!

  7. Just a bit of daft! Does anyone out there of a certain age, remember when you went to Skeggy or Mablethorpe with your Pa and Ma way back in the fifties early sixties, when you were met at the railway station by a hoard of lads with homemade carts asking if they could take your cases to your guest house, caravan site etc. Real enterprise that would be unheard of today unfortunately. They probably expected about a shilling for their efforts and many were pleased to pay, not knowing where their Guesthouse was located etc. Oh how the World has changed! and not for the better I must say. !tanning! !tanning!

  8. Thank the F0ok for that.

Am I alone in thinking there is only half a dozen Crimbo records out there that the radio stations know and play at Crimbo.

Every station I had on over the two or three days of the Crimbo season they were playing the same old records over and over again, it was starting to drive me crazy.

No mater what station one had on there was a Crimbo record being played, I know of hundreds they could have chosen from but no they kept churning out the same melodic tunes.

It got me irritated that much I turned off the radio at times just to get a respite from it.

    Bip
