  1. I left Cavo school in august '57. My first job was production office assistant at Stafford's the printers. Jeez, where has time gone.? Baz

    Great to hear the old school mentioned, I left in 1958 . there was history teacher, Mr Norfolk , and Mr Disney for geography. I will have to look at my autograph book to see more as well as pupils from that year.

  2. I used to work on Arkwright street in a hairdressing salon called "Grace Bull". she also owned one in Beeston as well as Sherwood.

    I also remember the bone factory as we called it and depending on the direction of the wind the smell from there was horrendouse.

    I also had my first driving lesson on that street to.

Think you'll find it was 2 jet provosts over the colwick area, I was in playground of Claremont Seniors so post 1957, we heard a boom in distance, looked and saw what looked like a round cloud, did not see any planes/wreckage falling as good few miles away, seem to remember engine from one crashed through glass roof of factory in netherfield killing a woman? may have been Lawrences Furniture Factory? was also at the battle of britain display at syserston when that vulcan crashed, there was a fire on impact which was maybe half mile away from crowd.
