  1. Blue buses to me were South Notts, the Midland General / Notts & Derby vehicles always seemed strange probably due to the odd route numbering; was there any logic in it?
  2. Widen the main spans - the existing bridge between the brick approaches( which replaced the original girder road bridge) was always intended to be widened albeit originally with the idea of reopening it to road traffic.
  3. Read recently a suggestion that all new buildings should have prominent plaque on them naming the architect and builder
  4. There seem have been a number of "riot" instances which unfortunately are every week events. Take the foreign student who was mugged / robbed - such happens without any riots taking place. There have been reports of shops being looted whilst open, isn't that shop lifting. The previous week three shops were set on fire in North Yorkshire, that was arson but if it happened this week...
  5. Its coming back online - John Peters, Guy Morris, Tim Rogers, Bill Bingham, Jeff Cooper and ANOther.
  6. No convincing needed - a pub can become a shop without needing any planning permission and that is being exploited by Tesco and Sainsbury all around the country. Bristol City Council, following the troubles over the Tesco there, have requested Central Government change the legislation but that could take some time if ever to happen. The planners will only be involved in things like new signs and any changes to the exterior (like new windows, door, cashpoints, air cond/ventialtion/heating systems)
  7. 18 - on the former Great Central north to south Bulwell Hall Halt, Bulwell Common, New Basford, Carrington, Victoria, Arkwright Street On the former Great Northern (inc the Nottingham Suburban Rly) London Road Low Level, London Road High Level, Thorneywood, St Anns Well, Sherwood, Basford & Bulwell (later Basford North), Bulwell Forest On the Midland route to Mansfield at the Midland Station, Lenton, Radford, Basford (Vernon) and Bulwell Market
  8. There are a number of guided bus ways around Leeds and Bradford - the main problem is not with the bus way itself but otehr vehicles getting hit by the guide wheels on the side of the buses.
  9. There a shot from the stand on youtube that shows Eddies acrobatics that the tv camera missed http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=khwJIaPXb3s
  10. Suspect the £4.40 return from Chester is a shopping special offer or something similar. Remember once it was cheaper to Leicester than Loughborough due to such an offer!!
  11. Trent did serve as an interchange station with passengers changing for Nottm/Leic/Derby/Sheff between trains. Even train going from Derby to Leicester could stop there due to the sharp curve shown on the 1905 map. It was possible for two trains to be there both going to (or coming from) London in opposite directions to each other.

  13. The radio rights to covering the Football League are restricted and cannot be put out on the web.
  14. Was Midland only, the GN had its own route via Bingham to Melton. Through trains from East Anglia would have however been worked by the Midland & Great Northern Joint Rly.
  15. Wondered if anyone could advise on the authentic origins or not of this model which can be found in Modelzone in Broad Marsh http://www.ehattons.com/images/products/76me004_1.jpg
