  1. Well its the end of an era. My eldest child finished his A levels earlier this summer, but the thing that made me think about age is when I went to my youngest childs school to pick her up for the last time. She's now finished the junior school and will be going to the local secondary school in September. Its the first time in about 15 years I havent had a child in the infant/junior school... where did the time go!
  2. My office is on the land that used to be part of the depot. It doesnt seem that long ago since the place was all the barracks and land, but now its houses and offices/factory units.
  3. OK, I'll "bite" After having 4 children, (and 3 labours) I have to say I did not feel "let down" because I HAD to have an epidural for the birth of my twins... in fact when it came to the time for the birth of my last child I was BEGGING for an epidural My only natural birth was my eldest, and I dont feel any different to him because I had him naturally
  4. Both our times were "pure luck" It never entered our minds that there might be a launch. In fact one of the times we found out by accident, and we set off straight away... Its a good job the roads are straight between Orlando and Cape Canaveral, we got a good view parked on the side of the road
  5. Thanks for posting these. My eldest son is in the Air Cadets, and wants to become a pilot. He's just taken a good look at them and said they're great!
  6. I have been fortunate enough to see two shuttle launches, the first one we were so close (well as close as we could be before the roads were closed) and to feel the earth shake and see the water ripple from the sheer force is incredible. I thought I had some photos of it somewhere, but while looking though my old pics, I havent managed to find them (and I'm really narked that I havent) The second time I saw it we only got part of the way from Orlando before the shuttle was launched. My hubby took my eldest to see one when we were there, but my twins were too young to be woken up at stupid oclo
  7. We went to the Kennedy Space Center last time we were there, and were disappointed to find that the tours no longer took you close to the launch pads We went back in 1989 and it was a much better tour, but of course then it wasnt a commercial/touristy thing to do, but we did go quite close to the launch pads...
  8. Oh wow... (you sure its not a UFO ) The space station isnt very big is it? so you did well to photograph that... how did you know what it was?
  9. I agree, its a trade off. When I did my web development course I was advised to keep each main page short because if people dont see what they are looking for they go elsewhere. The idea is that each sub catagory fits the profile of the main catagory. Example, your by era board would work perfectly as child boards with each decade being a link would free up about 4" of screen space on my laptop. As all the decades are essentially the same types of posts it could work well, and all the member would need to do to see all the details would be to click the header for that forum. (also from a s
  10. I've seen a few of you have updated your status... What is that for and how do you do it
  11. I dont know whether your forum software does this, but take a quick look here http://www.travelthrutime.com/Forum/index.php the way I have set this up is that I have one major topic (say in this forums case, schools, and under that are the child boards, they all have the same functions, its just sort of collapsing the structure and making it easier to scroll through. If you want to know more, give me a shout
  12. Does this forum software allow child boards? If so, that might stop the amount of scrolling that Radfordred mentioned without having to loose any boards
  13. It was bad down here in Bread and Lard Island too... but it looked much blacker north of the Trent. I hope you are OK with no damage, and the set top box soon gets fixed.
  14. I have to admit, I prefer to be able to see just the posts I havent yet read.
  15. I'm not sure.... its got some stuff I like, but its strange too. I'm sure I'll get used to it. Thats 3 different forum types I now have to remember where things are, and I get all confused...
  16. Found a problem... Looks like all the quoted posts have got messed up. BTW, liking the fast reply
  17. I think thats the view new content with the orange square... but at the moment its finding all the posts as new
  18. He has hits now. I'm fed up of it all. I never really "got" what Jackson was all about. My car radio has never seen so many different radio stations while I flick through trying to avoid having to listen to yet another mediocre tune from "The king of Pop". And now the family are crawling out of the woodwork its getting worse again.
  19. Sorry for the delayed reply... been one of those weekends. I didnt feel I'd been here long enough to ask... but thanks for the offer anyway. As my site currently stands it uses quite a bit of bandwidth, and I hope that it will get bigger/more bandwidth over time. It took until today for my workplace to catch-up with the move... can you imagine actually having to work all day instead of surfing the net Again, thanks for the offer
  20. I suppose this is aimed at Mick as I think he's just moved host, but if anyone else knows the answer then it would be much appreciated. I've moved my website the other day from a host in the US to one in the UK. We were experiencing problems in getting them to talk to us about certain things, and we decided it was best to get someone who was on the same office hours as us. So we backed up our stuff, and moved it to the new host. How long does it take for the site to become available (or found) again? I can get my site from home, but not from work... someone else can pick up the site from the
  21. Yeah, nothing much was made of Farrah Fawcetts death which is a shame. I liked her as an actress, and I would've loved to have hair like hers
  22. Just heard this on the radio this morning, now I guess we're gonna be listening to MJ songs for the next couple of weeks... Time to put some CDs in the car I think.
  23. I'm glad you posted this, cos I was going to post and ask whether anyone else was seeing really old topics. I'm just pleased it wasnt my browser
  24. Funny Mick... I'd do that too. Looks like the one we stayed in a couple of years ago... damn it, now I want to go back there.
  25. On my very regular jaunts down the A46, I dont think I've ever seen a bus (apart from the day-tripper buses). There has to be a bus service, as theres bus stops all the way to Newark. Oh hang on... brain-fart... must be age creeping up One of my kids went to Newark on the bus a couple of weeks ago, I'll try to remember to ask him what bus
