My mum was at Nether Street school in Beeston in mid 1940s and they learnt to swim at the Lido. She told me they had to break the ice on it in the winter!

They used to sell a kind of cocktail snack/cracker....lobster flavour waffles. I'd give anything to find them again! It was the only place my mum could find german cooked meats like speck in the 1970's. of course now she'd be in her element..so many good delis but at the time Burtons was king

I used to love Burtons. It was such a treat to shop there and at Christmas it was fabulous!

Our 9 yr old Springer spaniel is getting a bit grumpy now as he's got arthritis in two legs, but show him a bit of snow and he's a different dog! He loves to run along shoveling his nose through it and jumping to chase snowballs.
