    Food

Reading this made me go and look at my tin of mustard powder. Jan 89. Crikey, I guess not many recipes have called for it!!!!
  2. Just realised Jim was the eldest, b 1946. He passed away aged 63. Billy was 66 I do believe. Their half brother Les was also in his 60's when he passed away.
  3. William (Billy) Whitlam was born 1946. I think his brother James (Jim) was 1954.
  4. Do you know what year the photo is Jill? One of these days I will see my cousins, the Whitlam boys.
  5. We lived 3 miles from Woking, the other direction. West Byfleet. We shopped in Woking and Guildford. We were in Woodham last year, rented a place, went into Woking and didn't recognise it. Pretty much all pedestrianised now.
  6. Heaven forbid they put me on life support, but if they do, i hope someone re-boots me like you did with your printer.
  7. Jill. I have 2 gingers, but I really wanted a black and white (tuxedo) cat and a ginger. Was going to call them Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers.
  8. Yes. Determined to be away for Christmas this year. First cruise booked (Med) got cancelled. 2nd cruise, NCL kept changing the itinerary, so much so, that there were hardly any places we hadn't been to before. And I didn't fancy an 18hr flight and then not enjoy it. So we decided to'do' London. 11 nights in a hotel on Tottenham Court Rd. Only ever been there the odd day or night. Taking 2 friends with us, and plan to walk our feet off every day!
  9. Are The Proms from the Royal Albert Hall? Never been in this place before, but will be in there on Dec 23 for the sing-along Carol concert. Really looking forward to it.
  10. Your Young Conservatives club sounded pretty much like ours, Woodborough Y.C's. The only time I remember anything political at any meeting, was Kenneth Clarke coming to give a talk. Other than that it was just a social club, car treasure hunts, parties, and I do remember a visit to the sugar beet factory.
  11. Used to see signs outside businesses that were shopfitters. I always thought it looked like shoplifters!
  12. Continental quilts came on the market mid 70's at a guess. Our eldest aged about 3, announced to his gran, I've got a conkernenkal quilt. They were always called that by us all, after that.
  13. I do tend to reverse first letters, like par cark, and splin shints
  14. When working under a sink, lay an ironing board down over the edge of the sink floor to lay on. Much more comfy!
  15. Some nice looking buildings on the right. Must have been something royal going on with all the flags.
  16. Ah, the good old days when there wasn't 320 guests on line. I used to enjoy looking who was on line and what they were looking at. Sometimes it was an old subject, long forgotten, that I could then click on and enjoy again. These so called 'guests' are ruining this.
  17. One of my favourite instrumentals is Coronation Scot by Vivian Ellis. Perhaps because I grew up with it.
  18. I am very thankful for our sanitation company, and Del Webb, the builder of this area. He had the forethought of putting trash cans in the ground. The trash men RUN with a large wheelie bin from driveway to driveway, flip the metal lid, pull out the dustbin and empty into the wheelie. Put bin back in hole and flip the lid back. Run to the next driveway. Meanwhile, one of the crew moves the truck up, then gets a wheelie and joins the gang. They come twice a week for regular trash. They will take up to 14 bags of garden waste at no charge, although it is rarely put out, most folks have a land
  19. My brother says he can pick Ozzie Osbourne as one of the voices. I can imagine the language!
  20. Yesterday went on the community bus trip 'oop north' 2 hours to Prescott. Lovely old town, the trip was to the arts and craft fair in the town square. Prescott is around a mile high, so much cooler than the desert. Mid 80's when we got there, and a lovely breeze. As we left at 3pm it just about hit 92. So much cooler than home. Our monsoons are late this summer, we really need some rain, can you send some over.
  21. I guess ours could have been the same, I just remember it was white.

    Food

We recently took a river cruise, ending in Amsterdam. We then bussed to Bruges and Paris. Hubby Googled British food shops, thinking we might find food to take home with us. The only shop he could find on our itinerary, was M & S in Paris. Great, and it was very close to our hotel. We walked to find it, (in a mall) and went inside. It was a French suoermarket. We have never been more disappointed in our lives! Visions of picalilli, Branston etc, gone. We are still scratching our head why M & S are there, selling nothing but French food.
