  1. Hi Basfordred, took some time reading your above post: was imagining what you looked like - being neither a Mod or Rocker - I'm picturing a real cool, dude................ Wotcha!
  2. Lovely Memories of the Co-op Milkman delivering: the one I had was named Pete and he not only delivered milk but fresh orange, butter, eggs, potatoes and even knitting wool to make my children their woollens - his wife Marjorie owned a Wool Shop on Bentinck Road. Lovely Days..............
  3. Stan, I make sure that I get more than my fair share of phytoestrogens (such a tricky word!) in my daily diet.
  4. Mighty Strange how: 'Lots of Postings have gone amiss with the new Hosting'.................................
  5. Hi Alison, like you say: 'sad', that you have to watch your potato intake; so far, don't suffer with any of the above but will take care in the future to indulge occasionally. PS: You've reminded me of sweet potatoes - good phytoestrogen. PPS: Up super early this morning; couldn't sleep, too warm! - and it's October, crazy...........................
  6. D'ya know I don't think there could be anything lovelier than clapping your eyes on a pile of Potatoes (Spuds) that you've grown yourself - wished I had the time to grow more organic produce apart from the fruit on my trees. PS: I do love potatoes.................. a more versatile vegetable I don't think you could find............
  7. Harry is Beautiful, Refreshing - a Modern Touch to Royalty............................... PS: I laugh at his escapades - he's only human; I can imagine him being ticked off by his Grandma (and I bet she does this tongue in cheek!)
  8. Hi Hippo, Mary Gaye? Never heard of her.............................. Oh well, I'm off to put the kettle on - can't be bothered to Google.
  9. Hi Hippo, I think Harry is very much like Diana's side of the family, although he could be getting more like his dad and brother: losing hair on his crown - noticeable on last night's news (this recent event).
  10. Well Said Bilbraborn @ 201 - the same went for me: 'most working class mums had to work to a very tight budget'.
  11. For: #16: 'The Whole Purpose of Education is to turn Mirrors into Windows' (Sydney J Harris - Journalist for the Chicago Daily News/ Chicago Sun - Times).
  12. I'm glad to say that I remember 'The Cocked Hat' in its heyday: Summer Sunday evenings spent running around its Rose Gardens with sister and friends whilst mum, dad and relations sat laughing and talking, enjoying a well earnt drink before the busyness of another Monday morning. PS: Could write loads on the loveliness of the once 'Cocked Hat'........................
  13. What a Brave Lady in radfordred's photo above: now if that was me I'd be wearing my Stockings, Suspender Belt and High Heels - looking all Glamorous 'Doing A Job On The Front'........................ PS: 'Keep 'Em COMIN' radfordrouge.........................
  14. Going to be busy today: loads of windfall apples to gently steam - can't bear to see them go to mould.
  15. 'Good, old fashioned Meat and Potato Pie Banjo? Funny you should mention this because just lately I've been fancying one myself. I've no need to reach for the 'Recipe Book', been making them since I was a child; will put recipe on for you later later - that is if somebody doesn't beat me to it..................
  16. Mick, Wonderful photographs of Lady Window Cleaners, holding up the Fort whilst the men were away. PS: I can't imagine they'd be using Windolene (wasn't invented) - more like a spot of vinegar in the bucket of water.
  17. Love twitchells; I recall those around Radford Bridge Road when I was a child (area of cottages long since gone): we used to play hide and seek in them; especially loved to yodel at the top of the twitchell and listen to the echo. PS: Beautiful Memories of the Radford Bridge Road area that once was.......................
  18. 'St Faith's' - Beautiful name; amazing how two little words can work on the Imagination.................
  19. Beefy, I'm surprised that you didn't notice the message I left for you @ #6.................
  20. I consider myself a dab hand at making scones: I either make fruit scones with sultanas or dates - these are delicious - or I make plain scones and serve them with Strawberry Jam and Double Cream....................
  21. I loved being in that Co-op Pooh; did it have a wooden counter?
  22. Nostalgic eh?: Photographs of: Houses and Land and Youth and Factories; Nostalgic eh?
