  1. Alison: 'they are protected here' - and so they should be...........
  2. I'm pleased: got myself a great bargain at Bulwell yesterday: 2 containers of milk (blue top) for 40 pence. Y'all know what I had in mind don't you? - Home Made Rice Pudding. Well, when I reached home, I straightaways made one in my slow cooker and have to say it's truly delicious!: soft, fluffy and creamy and loads of it. PS: Anyone's welcome to call in and share some with me.............................
  3. Cliff Ton, I do wish people (Dame Edna) wouldn't copy my Grandma! Can't they have any original fashion sense of their own?
  4. Hi Alison, YES, I think I could easily make friends with this sweet, little creature @ #1.
  5. Hi Basfordred, I'm no witch, I don't cast spells - I'm too nice a person. PS: I just laugh at Life!
  6. So you enjoy Poetry too do you Bilbraborn? - the highest Art Form we were informed.................. PS: Takes me some time to create a poem but once I've made one, there's a tremendous feeling of time well spent; after I've done on 'Nottstalgia' I'm going to do some more work on my poems................
  7. Pet Hates: A Fly / Flies Buzzin'around my bedroom last thing at night: Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Daddy Long Legs - they make me dither (and this is from an animal and insect lover)
  8. Must say I thoroughly enjoyed TV last night: watched 'More 4' with the Leslie Phillips interview and then the film that followed: 'Venus', starring Leslie and Peter O' Toole. Interviewed, Leslie came across as a candid, dedicated Professional who'd moved from playing smartly dressed spivs and cads - always a sports car in view - into playing serious Shakespeare. Regarding the film: Leslie and Peter complemented each other playing ageing friends; film was about O'Tooles character as a lothario thespian growing old disgracefully, a pleasure to watch - s'pecially like it when a film has me
  9. Compo, great photo @ #1. How could all of you posting on the subject of moles be so hateful towards them? Why if I was lucky enough to hold one of these sweet, little creatures in my hand, I'd hold it so tight I'd crush it Oh my!!
  10. On the subject of toilets again: Posh people called this a 'Lavatory' ; I always considered this a disgusting word - toilet was easier on the ear. PS: What about 'I'm Going to Spend a Penny' and 'The Powder Room'?
  11. PET HATE?: Estimated Bills - Ohhhhhhhhh, the time they take me to sort out! PS: I refuse to pay an estimated bill.
  12. Hi Alison, I've been taking your advice about healthy eating; today I've been thinking about making an egg and mushroom curry; fly over for some - if you have the time - you're more than welcome...............
  13. This wonderful 'Indian Summer' is lasting such a time, I'm not complaining it's welcome to stay forever. It's just right for me: I've been out in the garden today busy redesigning: moved the bird bath - whoo, that was weighty! - watered the new mallows springing up around, if I'm lucky and the sun continues to shine, they'll be shooting up like crazy over the next few days. After gardening, I love to look out of the lounge window at the changes I've made - always get inspiration for my next job this way.
  14. Stephen, Congratulations on your splendiferous achievement.
  15. Congrats to Darkazana PS: Compo, can we all have a portion of the cabbage, being as we participated in the game? PPS: On second thoughts, better not, imagine the pong in the post, especially to places as far away as: America, Australia etal.............
  16. It's Greeeeeeeeeeaat to go down Nottingham's 'Goose Fair' and at my age, it doesn't cost a penny - well, p'raps a few............ I've my Bus Pass to catch the tram to the Forest and the Fair will be there waiting for me: I'll take a good walk around enjoying the sights, sounds and smells of this splendid tradition. I'll maybe spend a bit if I'm tempted by the aroma of hot peas - last years were delicious I recall, real tasty and good value for money at £2 a huge pot - no waste. Last years lay out of the Fair was fantastic: fusing the old with the new - let's hope they stick to this.....
  17. Trevor, as soon as I saw the above photos I thought Babs and her hubby will love these - congratulations on your good deed for the day! PS: Didn't those Rockers cause some trouble back in the 60's? PPS: The 'Ace Cafe' looks like an Art Deco building - preservation order on it?
  18. Interesting, I didn't know about: 'Nottingham Secondary School for Art'. I do know that the 'Nottingham College of Art' (next to the Arboretum) was fortunate enough to have the talented painter Dame Laura Knight and her painter husband, Harold Knight passing through its doors. PS: Not many people know of Harold Knight, Painter; if you get the chance take a look at some of his paintings - was just as good as Laura but not so prolific!
  19. Hi Lizzie, given you a tick for #36; you've certainly cleared up some of my views on the programme - how cruel..................
  20. Have never sat in front of 'Soaps' - t'would be too boring for me. Tried the 'X Factor' a couple of weeks back - almost died of BOREDOM; at the programme's end I asked myself why I'd spent so much time on such a trivial, tedious programme - I could have kicked myself! And don't they make such Gods out of these celebrities? I enjoy a decent film, decent drama and documentaries.
  21. Out in my back garden this afternoon caught a lovely piece of the 'Indian Summer' we're experiencing at the moment. How long it will last I don't know but I'm snatching at every little last bit of the Glorious sunshine and warmth before it disappears into the oncoming Winter. Just recently I've removed an aged Rosemary bush because of its abundance of old wood. Although the dead wood looked attractive in parts with its natural sculpture of coils and spirals, I decided that now was the time to go. I've been busy clearing/ cleaning the patch where it once grew and encouraging new shoots of m
  22. 'A Joker too Are you Bendigo?' Then you're more than welcome on here............................
  23. Bendigo, Welcome to 'Nottstalgia'; no punch ups on here mind - being as you've a mighty Boxer's name. Promise......................... Bendigo: Good Idea @ #12.
  24. Looks like Tony Blair's spruced up again now that he's got a vast, new Palace........................(and he purports* to being a Socialist!) *'purports'; Carni, here's one for you, being as you wrote that you like Dictionaries - had to look it up myself.
