  1. Listening to radio 2 playing chart from 1981: It's taking me back to when I was single & used to chase girls at disco's, especial Bestwood Welfare on a Sunday night, also Hucknall Welfare + Apollo & Horse & Jockey in Bulwell...
  2. MargieH.. About once a week, we can tell when they need doing as they feel a bit hard to the touch. He sometimes bursts the one on his back when he goes in the field out the back & he catches it on a bramble or something. We buy those cheapo baby wipes from Aldi to wipe the gunge off his fur...
  3. Our cat Pix has got two cyst's: one on his back & t'other on his head, vet doesn't want to do an operation to remove them because of his age, so she's showed us how to drain them. My wife Sue holds him steady, I then sterilize a needle in the gas flame, wait for it to cool, then prick the cyst while holding tissue's to catch the gunge, sometimes the gunge will spurt out & you have to be quick to catch it, we then wipe him down with baby wipes. Doesn't seem to hurt him as he's sat there calm & purring, we always give him a treat afterwards.... He woke us up last night a
  4. Thanks DJ360, Beekay, Trogg, Cliff Ton, Brew, Carnie, Jill, Catfan & MargieH.... Hope get sorted out OK Catfan
  5. Well had my first injection of tryptorelin on Monday & that'll last for 3 months & should shrink the tumour, gave me a sore bum but needs must... Been to see oncologist this morning & I should be having radiotherapy in about 3 months time. He said after the tryptorelin has shrunk the tumour he'll blast the prostate, seminal vesicle's & nearby lymph node's with radiation & hopefully that should be that. He said the wee-wee problems should hopefully resolve after the tryptorelin injections & radiotherapy have shrunk/ bopped off the tumour, but if they don't I'll need a TU
  6. Thanks Catfan... I get this knot in my stomach when my imagination goes into overdrive, but then I think "I can't do owt about it, so I've just got to let the doctors do what they have to do." I'd like to thank you & everyone who's commented for their moral support....
  7. Glad to read you've got the all clear Catfan, good for you.... I'm getting some side effects from the hormone tabs I'm taking = I'm feeling really tired, I'll sit here watching the telly & fall asleep & miss the program, I've always done this but not as much as I'm doing it now. I presume when I've had radiotherapy or surgery I'll come off hormone tabs/injections & the side effects will subside I hope....
  8. At Fermi-lab they have achieved quantum teleportation of 23.7 miles, furthest ever AFAIK. However I speculate that NSA, CIA, KGB & GCHQ have been using quantum technology in super computers & for communications for years. Of course I have no evidence or proof for my speculations, but if they are they're not going to tell US are they?
  9. When we lived in Bestwood Village we were on hols in Miami, got yabbering to another English couple who lived in Moorbridge Cottages, then they sat next to us on the plane coming back home..... We were on hols in Gran Canaria 3 years ago when a lady at our hotel said to my wife "you're the line dance instructor at South Normanton aren't you?" It was one of my wifes line dance pupils..... When we moved into our present house bloke next door but one said "it's you isn't it? You were on the loco's down Hucknall pit" & he was right I was. He became a good friend till he passed on 11 years ago.
  10. I was on the school bus & fancied this girl so went over to talk to her, my mate said "she smokes, so you'd better pretend you do as well" & he lit me a fag up. I go over all nonchalant, took a couple of drags & coughed & coughed & coughed & coughed then boffed up all over her shoes, I certainly knew how to impress the girls back then, lol. Never touched a fag since. She still went out with me though, till she caught me kissing her best friend, then the shouting & fuss started & was I was dumped...
  11. I had a phone call a week yesterday, then a letter when postman came asking me to go to see urology doctor last Monday for my test results, than saw a nurse who explained more on what treatment I was to have & gave me script for months supply of hormone tabs. I'd be surprised if they'd give you bad news over the phone. Hope your tests are negative Catfan...
  12. Carfan. Hope everything goes well for you..... Thanks Mary 1947..... Agree 100% Beekay.....
  13. Thanks Jill....Glad your Hubby is OK Lizzie.... I remember watching a documentary a few years ago about American health care: a man who couldn't afford health insurance had got prostate cancer & needed radiotherapy or surgery, but he couldn't afford the many thousands of $ to pay for it, all he had to treat it was hormone pills. So thankful for the NHS knowing I haven't got the worry about the cost of whatever treatment I have...
  14. Thanks Brew, Willow Wilson, Lizzie, Catfan, Ben, Cliff, Trogg & Beekay. My wife thought I'd get the all clear like I did just over two years ago, but I knew something was wrong when I kept having more tests/scans. I'm level 4, (Gleason 8 = 4+4) highest it goes is 5. They say radiotherapy is the gold standard but they may not be able to do it because I've had ischemic colitis that has scarred my bowel, got to go & see oncologist in next few weeks to discuss this. It hasn't spread anywhere else so was caught fairly early. Just over a month ago I had no idea this was going on in my body,
  15. Well after my high PSA test, MRi scan, prostate biopsy & nuclear bone scan in the last few weeks I saw a doctor for results at City Hospital today. It turns out I have prostate cancer & was started on hormone therapy today, it hasn't spread anywhere else though. In 2/3 moths I'll be having radio therapy or surgery. Can't believe how fast thing have moved in the last month...
  16. After my MRI scan 3 weeks ago & my prostate biopsy & bone scan last week I've got to go to City urology for the results on Monday. As you say 'the plot thickens.' Hope all is well for you CF...
  17. The other day my wife asked if she could nave a taste of my marmite on crumpet... Well I've never seen anyone make such a fuss for a long time, she carried on as though she'd been poisoned, I laughed like a drain...
  18. My wife thinks I'm stupid & gullible... Well just wait till I tell her about the 16 billion pounds I'll be receiving from that nice Nigerian Prince who e-mailed me, just waiting for the money to be credited to my bank account...
  19. When doing the biopsy she said it will hurt a bit, I had to grit my teeth & bear it, it made my eyes water but was OK when the anesthetic got going, wouldn't want to do it again though. Would say it was on a par with my eye operation for scariness, but I'm a chicken & not very brave, cluck cluck...
  20. Well had my prostate biopsy yesterday morning, not very nice but needs must, the staff were very nice. They then got me in in the afternoon at nuclear medicine for a bone scan. They told me to drink a pint & a half of water before going in the atomic gubbins, which I did. Then I had to go in it again as my over full bladder blurred the image. Got to wait for results to come through, hating the waiting...
  21. Thanks Willow Wilson & Ian Finn, I'm feeling a bit calmer now.... Off for a pneumonia jab this afternoon, needles don't bother me at all as I'm an ex blood donor, had to stop after 34 pints because of illness though....
  22. Beekay. Thanks for that info. When I had my colonoscopy & biopsy & could see the jaw thing on the TV screen taking a bite, couldn't feel anything though. Used to embarrassment as there was 3 very pretty student nurses watching... They advised me not to drive afterwards, that's why I've booked a taxi...
  23. Well after a PSA test of 5.4 I went for a prostrate MRI, now I've got to go for a prostrate biopsy on Thursday, not looking forwards to it, but needs must as they say. Had a PSA test & finger up the bum prostrate exam 2 years ago & both were OK then. When the lady phoned she asked if I'd ever had a rectal exam? I told her about my fingers up the bum, colonoscopy & colon biopsy when I had ischemic colitis 5 years ago & she said "oh you're used to it then aren't you?" Taxi is booked for Thursday morning so no going back...
  24. I used to do car/van delivery's at New Crown & they always wanted the bus/train tickets & petrol receipts. You'd often deliver a new car & bring back their old one, the petrol tank would usually be empty. Used to go all over the country at New Crowns expense on swaps = you'd take a blue Bedford Astravan to a Dudley dealer & bring back a Nova on trade plates. New Crown is now a Lidl...
  25. Ah, I remember you putting that post on now, I'd forgotten about it. Of course Sue remembered you putting it on & called me a thicko for forgetting, she's still shouting as usual, lol.. I can still yabber to you on here..
