As I said in other post I would start a new topic on Carlton Girls School Station Rd Carlton I went there from 1962 to 1966 the head misstress was Miss Jones at this time.Some of the teacher I remember are Miss Edginton Music , Miss Johnson the elder who was my form teacher from 2nd to 4th year taught maths, Miss Johnson the younger taught needlework she was my form teacher 1st year its easy to remember my form teachers names.   4. Run by ERNIIE KNOWLS AND HIS WIFE. Ernie was a master baker Made me my wedding cake with just 4 weeks notice good job it was a cristmas wedding as he was already making his christmas cakes and was able to use two of these and it really was a butiful cake. We used the bottom tier for our first sons 1st birthday 5 years later it was still mouth waterink cake even after being kept in clingfilm baco foil and kept in a tin for five years. Ernie always told me he would make me my wedding cake when I got married. But I was going out with his younger son trevor at the time but thats another story.

The other guy in 3rd pic is JOHN SMITH lived in first house forsythia gardens back of white hart left his wife a 6 kids went to live in australia died a few years back still in touch with june his ex wife. Ash can we have some copies of these for our memorial corner. Piggy sez get your arses down here and look at some of the photoes we have already got not a lot of the old days so if any of you old rockers have got anything from the past we would love to have copies of them , but want to get as many photoes of those who are sadly no longer with us to set up a memerial board.

Iam trying to do my family history and keep hitting brickwalls on my fathers side just wonder if any one out there may be able to help been down the archives and city libary several times and i am getting nowere. Carnt find them on any cencus. my fathers name was GEORGE HENRY CLEMENTS born 1 Colwick Rd Nottingham September 1908. His parents were Henry and Lizzy posibly Elizabeth Clements nee Rowlands but not sure on this dad did not tell us much about his family. Yes thats right first into the big oily pond and then on down by brasso playing fields down past muck hills and then in between muck hills and horse fields my friend Leslie Denoon kept her horses in there we had to cross a little brige near bottom of LNW TERRACE,to get to them.Then it went parralel with the railway line going under one of the tunnells out into the fields and into the trent near the viduct.Some of the railway signal men at the box before the viduct would let us go across to the Radcliffe side of the river were we would sometimes spend the day if we had got the money we would

For any one who is interested east kirby has a 40s day this saturday we are going out for a run with steves clasic bikes meet from ilkeston so there will be clasic and modern bikes as well as the planes and forties costumes. we were out with them to forties day at churnette vally railway forties day last saturday.
  13. My father was born at no 1 colwick rd still there in 1908 and later moved to no 37 sneinton hermitage were he lived untill his marrage at st stephens church in 1937. He always told us that his grandfather built these houses along with His partners and owned these properties until his death until first world war.most of these propoties at this end of the road were large 3 storey houses.

  15. Its now the home of Nottingham play fourum or as it used to me know playworks. Been in this place many times for play training and meetings they also have a scrap store and resources centre. Iwas a playworker for city council for 12 years and for seventeen years before that did voluntary playwork. babs

Hi AYUP MY HUSBAND DAVE PIGGOTT [PIGGY] worked at clifton pit from 1963 to 65 check no 342 till he had to leave after being brought up pit and taken home with phewmonia sez he really missed it when he had to finish. My father George Henry Clements AKA little wemmy check no 432 worked at gedling from 1920 to 1973 he always said hard work but great mates and would never do owt else. so pits were always part of my life remmember in schooll holidays going with him to collect his wages on friday goin in the canteen for dinnermy dad worked perminent nights running main belt for the last 25 years

  18. Thanks to Ashley we found this great site and became members have not read all the threads as yet but the ones i have have been great bringing back lots of memories. As Ash went to many of the places we did his threads always bring back memories of the great times we old rockers used to have both in Nottingham and on trips and rallies across the country. By the way Ash have you looked at Leichester Pheonix MCC club site just type in goose fair rally or robin hood rally and see what comes up to jog your memory also a very interesting site for any old motor cycle rally fans some good threads.

The name of the stream is the Ouse dyke runs all the way from Mapperley through Carlton and Netherfield into the trent near Netherfield Lagoons a lot of it was piped underground dont no were it starts though.
