  1. Got to say, The Golden Fleece rings a bell but I don't know where from. Most of my memories of steam are from going to Victoria train station on to our holidays. Going North into the tunnel for quite a few minutes with the smoke and steam coming into the carriage ( 2 long seats facing each other with a corridor outside) making the eyes smart etc. I do also remember that you could walk down the corridor during the journey and lower the window in the door to have a 'deckers' Did this once on the way back from Great Yarmouth - I'd be about 10 - and the Flying Scotsman nearly took me 'ed off!

  8. When I worked for the East Midland Gas Board in 1967 we had a 6 week on 6 week off block release apprenticeship at the Peoples College. Our workshop was next to the electrical workshop under the curved roof low level part. We also has theoretical classes on College Street. Memories eh? When I first went to work for the gas board, our depot was on the corner of Huntingdon Street and Woodborough Road, where the Rest Home is now. Later, we moved to Lenton Industrial Estate, where Games World is now. Anyone remember the Gasmen's strike in '67? I have a picture somewhere from the Evening Post wi

  15. When you start your computer from cold press and hold F8 till the 'Load Options' screen comes up - then select Safe mode When in safe mode, go into Programmes, Accessories, Restore Point. Select a previous point and then re-boot. My PC at work had exactly this problem on Friday afternoon - damn frustrating. I restarted 5 times but always the same. So, at 6 pm I just switched the screen off, left it and went to the pub with Mrs Frank. When I went in yesterday morning it was all up and running OK. Couldn't believe it. I used 'Cleanup' and it removed 1.2Gb of old internet files
