  1. Thanks for taking the time to reply Martin. I'll check it out. Col
  2. They sound like such nice people....
  3. Thanks for that Will. As you say, 360 was a good club for live entertainment and while it was being run by us we had most of the well known local bands on, and a good few from outside the area. Also, since I DJ'd at the 360, Carlton Hotel, 76 Club Burton and many other places under the banner of the 'Magic Roundabout Disc Show', I like to think it was good for recorded music too!. Although I'm not sure any of us realised it at the time, we were in the vanguard of what later became the Northern Soul scene. We weren't 'purist' about it in the way that 'Northern' eventually became,
  4. Nope! I was at People's College around '65-'67.. We tended to grab a 'cob' or somesuch in the college refectory and swill it down with a couple of pints in the Trip.... But to be fair, I don't really know that end of town..
  5. When aahh wur a lad... I was in the Wolf Cubs. We went on a specially arranged visit to Wollaton Hall. This would be around 1960. We were shown the long tunnels in the sandstone beneath the hall. The nearer parts of those as I recall.. housed the Taxidermy dept. of the museum. But further in was a side chamber with water in it, allegedly used as a morning bath by a long deceased lord of the manor. From the main hall we were taken via various 'hidden' or 'secret' routes. One I recall involved a staircase 'behind' the wall in the main hall which carries t
  6. You can get 'urgent' appointments on the same day, but there's not much point with this really. I booked my first appointment re: this with my nominated Doc but that was two weeks away and as things got worse I called again on a Friday and got an appointment with someone else for the following Monday. I've had four consultations since then and it is sadly a case of giving treatments and strategies a bit of time to work. The only thing which has stopped the itch is oral steroids, but they aren't a long term option.
  7. My neighbour had a Sunbeam Rapier in the 60s. As I recall the Sunbeam Rapier was the 'sporty' one, the Hillman Hunter, the 'cooking' version, and the Singer Vogue the 'luxury' version of basically the same car. I'll soon know if I'm wrong....
  8. Hi Will, According to my diary, we had Tiny Davis and Litter on Sun 16th Feb, and Fri 28th March 1969. You must've been decent or you wouldn't have got asked back!! I DJ'd both. I also have a vague memory of a band called 'Tiny Davis' Souls A Go-Go', but not sure whether that's imagination. Can you shed any light?
  9. Will2017, thanks for the tip about the 'Playedinaband' site. A goldmine of info. Found this: Whichwhat pictured on the stage of the 360 Club in 1969. 50 years ago! I've consulted my 1969 diary and we had them booked on Sunday 2nd Feb 1969, and Saturday 19th April 1969, so very likely one of those dates. I will almost certainly have DJ'd both nights. Just for interest, the Exit sign just visible is over the 'Stage Door'/Fire Escape on the side wall of the club. Looking out of there you'd see St Mary's Church and a view down towards Boowul Market. I don't know if
  10. Thing is Brew, a quick google around 'chronic hives/urticaria', or 'chronic itch/pruritis', will often come up with the phrases 'extremely common' and 'notoriously difficult to treat'. I'm giving it a week of so to see if it resolves further. It's incessant and still 'global', but not as bad as it was. I'm also trying a few other things to ease it. If it doesn't continue to improve, I'll go back and further investigate the 'mummification' treatment mentioned last time I saw the Doc. I've had four consultations, a couple of prescriptions and numerous bloo
  11. Dunno worrappened, because I was obsessed with music as an adolescent. One of my best mates at the time Bob Wyville (sadly deceased), and his younger brother Graeme, formed a band called the Hound Dogs while still at school. I seemed to drift off more towards motorbikes and other stuff. Graeme went on to be in various bands including Rainbow Sunset, then a stint in the BBC created band 'Highly Likely', who did the theme to Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads'. I think he was also in Paper Lace for a while. These days he's playing bass in the Billy Fury Story. Last I
  12. Now there you're correct. I'm very aware of the 'psychomatic' and 'stress' elements in all of this. Avid online discussion of many things is part of my relaxation...
  13. Nice thought Phil but I doubt it. You'r confusing things which make my skin itch, with things that make it crawl....
  14. I'll second that Brew. Hope all goes well Nonna. As for the itch. It's still with me all the time but slightly less intense. Got my x-Ray results. All clear. Got the bloods too. Slightly anaemic, as ever. Raised bilirubin, as ever. On the other hand my eosinophil count, whilst raised, is lower than last time. Eosinophils are a clear marker for allergic response.. but you all knew that anyway... So lowered levels is good.. moving in the right direction.
  15. Don't know Margie. May just have been coincidence. Veg sellers were setting up outside as I left. Maybe some dust from their van.
  16. Funny thing Margie, I wasn't coughing before the Chest X-Ray, but was for about 30 minutes after. Very odd.
  17. Moving back onto topic... I heard nothing from the Doc's yesterday, so went to my online 'Consultations' record and it said 'Book Appointment' and pointed me to that rarest of things.. an available appointment next morning, first thing. So was at Doc's at 8 this a.m. Dermatologist has requested more blood tests, to eliminate a couple of possibilities. Will fast tonight and get those done early tomorrow. Also a Chest X-Ray, which I shot down to St Helens and got done straight after Doc's. Also suggested a treatment involving covering myself in some sort of steroid
  18. Never been on ramipril, but they did start me in Lisinopril (Another 'ACE inhibitor') years ago. Made me feel awful so they swapped me from ACE inhibitors onto an A2 inhibitor called Losartan, which apparently does the same job. If your cough bothers you it might be worth checking with the Doc to see if there's an alternative?
  19. A very reasonable point BK. When this first showed itself in a small way before I went to Mexico, I wondered because I had been very stressed out. However, it really came on with a vengeance a week or so after I got back from Mexico. I had pretty dry skin from sea swimming and sun exposure and put it down to that. However, I've sorted the dry skin and it's continued. I'm not especially stressed out and I keep trying to distract myself, but it just carries on. Antihistamines have no effect and the only thing that helped was three days on steroids. I'm awaiting some sort of contact from t
  20. I sort of drifted away from Nottm. Mostly chasing young ladies rather than work. Firstly to Doncaster, then to exotic High Wycombe in Bucks, before marrying a 'Scouser' and ending up about 15 miles outside Liverpool. If (God forbid), I found myself alone.. I'd be back like a shot............
  21. Think we've been here before... I was taught English at High Pavement by the late Stanley Middleton, author of many novels and Booker Prize winner. I was at High Pavement with Harold Shipman. I worked with the father of the late Alvin Lee of 'Ten Years After' fame. Zoot Money nearly tripped over me in the Beachcomber. I've met RadfordRed. Will that do?
  22. It's tempting Brew and now not only the itch, but the rash, has returned. Thing is, prednisolone is a very powerful drug, described as having 'no safe doseage'. It seems they usually want to limit use to 'flattening' an allergic response, then tapering off the dose. The list of potential side effects is even more endless than the usual stuff with any drug these days. It includes increased risk of glaucoma, heart failure and a number of other issues I already have ( though only lightly at present). Doc was very careful to instruct me to closely observe all the little wounds I have from i
  23. Well the three days of bliss whilst on steroids expired Thursday and from yesterday the itch gradually returned, though not the full rash.. (yet). Called the Doc's yesterday afternoon who said they'd received a response from the Dermatology Helpline, but only just, and would be passing it to Doc, who would likely not have time to look at it till Monday. And he's all booked up for next two weeks. Asked them politely to do their best to get him to see me or call me ASAP. Annoyingly, I've found a few old prednisolone tablets in the bottom of my 'Meds' tin. Enough for 7 days at the dosage I'
