  1. I don't recall much of what I read, but I do believe that Aubrey Beardsley was an influence.
  2. If yer've ever done a three hand 13 skin spliff on the back of a couple of album covers...... you should 'dig the Ganja And yet.. 'How long shall the wicked reign over my people'.
  3. Spent a couple of interesting hours today with friends at the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool looking at the exhibition covering Charles Rennie Mackintosh and those who were his influences and contemporaries. Fab stuff.
  4. Diggin' on the new patois! The itch is heading for seven years at this rate and the Virgin's still out of sync. Another look when the Lyle's is patching.
  5. Brief partial respite yesterday, but the itching is back with a vengeance. Just reading all sorts of horror stories about assorted itches picked up from Sandflies and sea bathing in Mexico... Who knows?
  6. I was born in a crossfire hurricane And I howled at my ma in the driving rain But it's all right now, in fact it's a gas But it's all right I'm Jumpin' Jack Flash, it's a gas, gas, gas It wort th'urricane up Bilbra in 1949... Yer must remember it...
  7. The off licence at the Andover Road shops had the odd bottle in stock back in the 1960s, as did a few shops in Boowul. There was a shop/off licence or summat on the same side as the old Golden Ball, Royal Oak about that time which had good ole Mateus Rose in the window. About 8 bob a bottle back then. I had the odd tipple. But I only really started drinking wine regularly when Mrs Col started buying Red after I had my heart attack. She was either trying to save me or kill me off.. not sure which.. Then when I decided to lose weight, I switched from Beer to Wine. But then I'l
  8. It's part of the master plan Brew. I may be rather too flippant about the booze, but overall I do think about my habits and I have been overall reducing consumption for some time. Also there's a difference between 'need it' and 'like it'. I have no trouble in staying off the booze for days on end when required, but would happily see off a bottle of wine every evening if I thought I could get away with it unscathed, which I probably can't. Three times in the last month or so for e.g., when on Metronidazole I've just quit for a week or so.. I don't get withdrawal symptoms. My drinking is abov
  9. It's certainly wearing. You can only spend so long trying to ignore it before it gets you and you find yourself scratching everywhere..Thing is Margie my Bilirubin is always raised. I'm told I have Gilbert's Sydrome, which is harmless, but causes raised Biliwotsit. I've only had this itch for a few weeks. I still suspect the antibiotics and also being very stressed out before I went to Mexico. Also my skin was very dry when I got home because I couldn't stop myself from swimming in the sea. Somehow I seem to have become 'hypersensitive'. Even the plaster they used on my arm after getting
  10. Finally saw a Doc yesterday. Skin itch no better. Probably a bit worse. I used no creams or owt yesterday so the Doc could see me in all my natural glory. He doubts anything like Scabies. Sent me for bloods all of which are back already. Nothing too remarkable. Very slightly low Iron (probably the booze.. I'll go back on the B Vit supplements) and raised Bilirubin. I always have that.. Gilbert's Syndrome I believe. But nothing dramatic.. which is good. Prescribed another cream. 'Dermocool', which is basically moisturiser with a bit of Menthol for 'cooling'. Warnings all
  11. OK Bud... You conkered me.. I feel a proper plank. No good me railing... and lumbering on.. I'll log off..
  12. I wooden want to disagree Brew! I'll picket up from here.. I saw dust what was happening from the start, twigged immediately and was determined not to bark up the wrong tree. I'm determined not to be stumped by this and won't try to ply you with a veneer, or skirt around it.. however knotty... You deserve a plane answer... Oak Eh?
  13. It had to be.. there was a lot at stake...
  14. It could. Good point.. and a stick needs a good point. So does a pale. ..or a pole..
  15. And the post above the post above is a very short post. Possibly the shortest post possible.
  16. Surely a stake is only a stake when it is used to stake something, either to hold it up.. as with a tree, or to put a hole in it, as with a Vampire's heart. In all other cases surely it's just a sharp stick, which could be used as post, or as a pointy thing.
  17. Rog, I can see your point about moving the discussion elsewhere. But I don't agree that having differing political views 'lets the world see that we don't get on with each other because of political differences'. We've met and I thought we got on rather well. :)
  18. Whatever side you take, I can't understand how the future prosperity of our country and the well being of its people can be 'boring'. Endless football is boring. Televised Golf is boring. I'd also add that whatever anyone feels about my posts, or Phils, or most others here, they do not descend into personal abuse such as has been seen on here recently.
  19. The peasants are revolting. :)
  20. It's true our Govt. hasn't exactly covered itself in glory. What concerns me much more however is the number of people who take the view 'Just leave.. it'll be alright..' Trust me. It won't. We no longer have an empire, any influence or military power to speak of, much industry or anything else. Out of the EU we are a 'busted flush', waiting to be pushed around by Russian and Chinese gangsters and a racist misogynist 70+year old spoilt child in the US. Yep, we'll have taken back control alright...
  21. We get the opportunity to change our Govt. at least every five years. So, if we realise we elected the wrong lot, or they aren't living up to promise, or whatever.. we get the chance to change them. That's democracy. The 'leave means leave' position seems to be based on the idea that we've had a narrow victory for leave, but even though it's been demonstrated that the promised Unicorns, NHS Dividend, halt to immigration etc., will not materialise.. and it is actually very economicaly damaging to leave the EU without some sort of trade deal.. three years in.. we are still expecte
