  1. I was at Lady Bay School around 1957 - 58 and wondered if there was anyone out there who attended over those years. I lived on Edward Road and used to walk to school, over the canal bridge. Head teacher was a Mr Aske and there was a teacher called Mrs Millard and her husband was the lollipop man outside the school.
  2. I used to walk down from school at the top of Waverley Street, through the Arboretum and into town to catch my bus home. One day my friend and I stopped on the grassy hill where there was a chap sitting holding a small pet monkey in a harness - I went to stroke it and it gave me a nasty bite!
  3. Yes I remember the Lyons Tea House by Griffin & Spalding. It seemed huge inside. My bus home from school (No 57) used to stop just outside.
  4. Not quite with it yet - think I have posts all over the place. I reply then I get a Quote Box as well!I think I am !! Watch this space
  5. I I remember trying to drive home from work in Hucknall and getting totally lost by just watching the kerb from the passenger side and of course did not see junctions and ended up totally lost on my home to Redhill.
  6. Is Goose Fair still the first Thursday Friday and Saturday in October - is it still going in the The Forest?
  7. The Tudor - Saturday morning children's pictures!! Pocket money of 6d which also bought sweets. Watched strongman Steve Reeves films that always ended with a cliffhanger I lived walking distance on Edward Road.
  8. Still trying to work my round this site as did not have much success first time round and gave up! At rough guess it was around 1971 I was at Babels. Little dance floor with a resident belly dancer. Did a bit myself but that is another story!
  9. Does anyone remember Burtons Arcade underneath the Council House.  Got lovely bacon sliced as you waited.  Lovely decorations throughout at Christmas.

I used to go into the cheese section on my way home from work on Friday (pay day). Used to get smoked cheese or Edam (Thought it was very sophisticated) for me and Stilton for my mum. You could smell the fish section all through the arcade some days.

Yes - I used to go in from Clumber Street and out through the Flying Horse exit.  Do you remember when Boots was on Clumber Street and had a library upstairs?  The shop downstairs used to pass change to customers along a pulley system attached to wires above.

I can vaguely remember the change system. Roughtons just down from Canning Circus had one as well, it used to fascinate me when I want in with my mum. The main thing I remember about Clumber Street is all the shoe shops on there.

  10. Think most Thorntons chox you get online now but supermarkets still sell.
  11. Does anyone remember this group. Steve went to Beeston College of Further Education which has now been demolished.
  12. Does anyone remember Alina Manka from University House School later to go on to Hollygirt School? Where did she go then? Last I heard she went to Aberdeen.
  13. Was that the primary school on Haydn Road? My brother went there.
