  1. Anyway, let's get back to the original post. Wollaton nowadays definitely isn't the quiet, select, and pleasant place it was previously.

It's been over developed, over populated, and is now over rated.

I left in the mid 80's, and I could see the direction it was heading even then !

  2. The last time I frequented the one in Newark, there was a family with a baby in nappies, and it was sitting on the table in the cafeteria.

As I was at the checkout, I noticed another baby in a nappy sat on the bleddy belt.

Don't these dorks realise that customers put their food on the tables and belts ? Who on earth wants a pikeys kids wee on their fresh veg !

  3. It's supposedly the trendy thing to do, as strolling along nonchalantly shopping with free coffee in hand gives the impression that you're a superior being, and at ease with the world, and not a care I the world.

Me ? I walk through the door of Tesco's, and my hands turn to claws, my feet turn to hooves, and I suddenly want to demolish the place full of chavs, kids, old people, slow people, fat people, tattooed people, hairy backed oafs in sweaty vests. Well anybody who gets in my way really.

  4. It's called that now RR, but in the late 50's I'd cycle up Churchfield Lane, turn right onto St P's St to the bend, then a cinder track led over the Leen and the railway, then another track to Northdown Rd. We always called it Tadpole Ln.

Just over the railway bridge, it was possible to turn right, and go past where Collins is now, and reach Aspley Lane.

  5. Been emptying  out a compost bin today, and digging it in to a raised bed. Then an afternoon on the patio reading.

However, in for dinner now, but madam shouted that there's a dead rat on the lawn. No, there's no rats since next door demolished their old shed. It's a hedgehog then ! What at 6pm I said. It's a dog turd then. Rubbish I said.  Next she said its a dead blackbird. Finally, I got up to investigate.

Well we'd had the washing out today, and I'd recently brought the umbrella type clothes line in. What was it then ? Not a bird, rat, hedgehog, or even a turd......... It was a core of damp soil that had come out with the line support tube, and slid out when I removed it !

  6. Oz, I think drink and gambling advertising is rife amongst sport, but I'm sure youngsters aren't swayed by such things.

I was drinking years before supporting Forest on a regular basis.

As for gambling, who on earth is going to be tempted by that overweight, talentless slob, Ray Winston?
