  1. Thanks mick2me. I only realised recently that it used to be a cinema. It may well have been a thread on this fine site that tipped me off.
  2. Thanks chaps. Cliff Ton: you're right, of course - I took the photos through a gap in the Queens Road frontage, not Arkwright Street. My mistake. I got carried away in the excitement of the discovery!
  3. Hi guys I visited the site of the former Queens Cinema near Nottingham railway station today and took a couple of interior photos through a gap in the Arkwright Street frontage. I wonder if anyone in the know (e.g. anyone who actually saw a film there) could definitively confirm that the photos show the former cinema auditorium. It certainly looks like a cinema interior. You can see the photos via the following link (sorry, couldn't figure out how to paste them into this post): https://twitter.com/GorillaSpotting/status/730435209972330498 Thanks.
  4. Hi, I walked along the Calverton line in summer 2011. I live just around the corner and usually have a walk through it at least once a week. I like the eclectic range of buildings and the fact that the neighbourhood still retains (for now) one or two elements from its past - the John Player warehouses, for example. I've always thought, though, that the area around the lake has a very melancholy feel to it, particularly in autumn and winter. It all makes for a worthwhile visit - I think a lot o
  6. Hi chaps New guy here. Lenton-based, Nottingham born and bred and interested in all things Nottingham. I just wanted to plug a new online/offline group called the Nottingham Heritage Interest Group that a friend of mine has set up. The web address is http://www.meetup.com/nottingham-heritage/. The idea grew out of our interest in Nottingham's caves and the idea is for people to meet up and socialise at events relating to Nottingham's heritage and to help to promote some of the great history and attractions that we have in this city. It's free to join. While I'm at it, I may as well mention m
