  1. I'm sure you've found this before but there is some info about mr Mayo here http://www.nottshistory.org.uk/articles/tts/tts1926/itinerary1926p9.htm The pub named after him is closed at present and in very poor condition
  2. Answer to what year was that? I'm guessing about 70 years ago - my grandad was a teenager I think.
  3. Hi there - great map. Very interested in arboretum area. Map shows bomb dropped around newstead grove/ north sherwood street. Anyone know if this affected Colville street? There are Victorian houses missing on a section of the street and one of my theories is that a bomb could be responsible? Any help greatly appreciated.
  4. My great grandfather was killed at the radford players factory - he was helping to load crates from an upperfloor window and a box fell on him. Just goes to show that smoking kills!
  5. Hello all - long time reader first time potster! I have been trying to find out about Colville street in the arboretum. There is part of the street that has newer houses and a basket ball court. I have looked at old maps and it looks like the roads were rearranged there at some point? Maybe the road used to link with Mansfield road instead of the footpath? Any ideas what was there before? Also wondered if a bomb had dropped there as it is in the line of the raid on notts city centre? Any ideas would be very helpful! Look forward to hearing from you all.
