  5. I began making historical miniatures back in 1972,made in a lead alloy, using the drop cast method .I did this as a hobby on and off, untill I moved to the states in 1993.Nine years ago I went full time, needless to say casting is done by a centrefugal casting machine, the miniatures are cast in a high grade pewter, and painted. They are for collectors, and not toys.So you could say I sit around all day drinking coffee, and playing with toy soldiers.

  7. Re- 88th New York Volunteer Infantry Regiment,5th Regiment "Irish Brigade".Mr,s Meaghers Own,numbered the 4th brigade,1st division,2nd army corps, major general Winfield S. Hancock,Army of the Potomac. The Union army kept reasonably good records,as it was more of a national army. On the other hand, much of the Confederate army were not so good at paperwork. Most of what was recorded, became useful to the conquering Yankee,s one way or another,no soft double ply rolls back then. When doing research in this area, many recruits lied about age, origin, etc, so it would be uncommon for a recruit to re

  10. Hi Oldace, U.S. Grant, was known as "butcher" Grant,by his own soldiers, losing around 57,000 men in ten days during the Wilderness campaign.Regarding the Irish during this war, thousands fought and died on both sides. The most famous being the New York "Irish Brigade",using up to 9,000 men in total during it,s existence.
  11. King Cotton ,was Americas biggest export,England imported around 85% of their production. It went to all the cotton mills in England, and to Nottingham ,to lace makers and weavers.the cotton import dried up by December 1861.A few blockade runners made it to Liverpool, which amounted to about 1% of what was needed. This led to mass layoffs in the thousands all over England. An estimated 17,000 Englishmen joined regiments on either side of the conflict, most joining with the Confedracy. The Englishmen tended to stick together in the Confederate regiments, and became known as the cotton companies. In a

  15. Friday, after a long battle with Leukemia, the great blues singer Etta James, passed away. From her sultry "At Last", and "I'd Rather Go Blind" to the more rocking songs, like her first hit "Roll With Me, Henry", she will be sorely missed. She recorded with The Stones, Pink Floyd, and many great bands. Another one leaves her legacy, but will not be soon forgotten. RIP, Etta.

They dont like beer, pickups, country music or Jesus. 5. They are directly responsible for the death of Dale Earnhardt. The Pentagon expects the problem in Afghanistan to be over by Monday.
