  1. I know Derrick Deakin well - he's been a customer of mine for 30 years or more. I also knew him from his time at NCT in the 70's - I was just a humble apprentice then at Trent Bridge Works.
  2. According to the History page : 1906 Solid-tyred Thornycrofts Motorbuses were first introduced on 26th March between the Market Place and Carlton Road (Crown Hotel). Two buses were required to run the service, a third kept in reserve. Track laying for the new line to Colwick Road via Bath Street and Manvers Street began.
  3. Seems to me, we're just getting our own money back - less interest of course !
  4. Fleetline = Flat Front Atlantean = Curved Screen ( NCT designed by John Lowry)

  10. I remember "Winsons" insurance broker - took 90 quid off me to insure my E Type Jag in 1973 - I only paid £500 for the car CNT 925C. !!

  12. Perhaps we should adopt the Spanish system for the able-bodied ? 2 years on the 'dole' - then after that, you're on your own.
  13. Netherfield Wakes in Jacky Bell's field - trying to look cool, no handed on Fred Cox's Speedway, until the last 20 seconds at full speed - then hanging on for grim death !
  14. A lot of new cars don't come with a spare wheel at all !! - just a pressurised cartridge to put some pressure in the punctured wheel to get you home.
  15. TMS on Carlton Road is the old British bike dealer - mainly Triumphs up to the mid 80's models. - I still visit regularly - old British bikes always need something or other.
  16. I'm sure there's plenty of interest in "the rest of us" - otherwise, there'd be no Forum
  17. Ian brought an element to the Forum that is now sadly lacking, apart from Compo's jokes and amusing images which keep me entertained and guarantee my attendance.
