Mee too, LL. I can't hear anything over 2KHz. that's the main reason why I haven't bothered fixing the better speakers.

My linton's are in the loft - just waiting for me to change one bass speaker..... maybe one day I will get one of those Round Tuit thingies.

It is diffiuclt to obtain permission to visit this island these days but I was lucky ennough to get a place on a special trip organised by a local camera club. The island's owner (William Simpson) is also the skipper of our little boat.

Worra day! Back online after a week of no internet and have to report thunder and lightning. Hope it doesn't bugg*r the line up again. Went walkabout last Sunday on the long-abandoned isle of Stroma. Spent most of today going through photos trying to find a couple of half-decentt ones to post. Watch the ""Out and about" topic over the weekend for some pictures.

I was trawling through some photos this morning when I came across this enterprising lad from April 2016. It was taken whilst on a fishing trip with him out to the mouth of the Halahin River that separates Gambia from Senegal:

Adding a stone (Stane) is still the custom, Oz, but the winter storms often cause the cairns to collapse if they get too tall. The "Loch" is Loch Torridon and is tidal. A person in teh frame is great for perspective but in many of thet hills in the north of Scotland, you don't see anyone all day!

Does quoting the relevant bit of a previous post (not the immediate preceding one) count as wasting band space too? If I want to reply to a section of an older post I always quote a selection and not the full post. Ban me if you want but I think a small selection of quote from an old post is not only relelvant but also very helpful and leads to a more fluent conversation.

Does anyone know anything about the King's cinema on Front Street? According to a website I saw, the cinema was closed in 1947 and demolished in 1956. However, I clearly recall going up the steps and into a Woollworth's store on the site up until the late 50s or early 60s. Am I worng and I am remembering a time before '56?

IT'S OFFICIAL! According to the met office, last Sturday Wick (Caithness) had the hotteest day of the year so far. Temperatures reached a heady 20.7°C. Phew!

I've seen them fruiting in Cyprus, Nonna, so you should be able to get them to fruit in Iatly. However, I'm not sure at what altitude you live - you could be too high up for it to be hot enough for long enough?

Scaremongers were patrolling the beach one day some years ago when I was sitting in the sunshine near Sellafield. They approached me with their clipboards and asked if I realised what danger I might be in, sunbathing so close to a nuclear plant. We've had the Dounreay nuclear site up here since the 1950s and the only problems were caused by people not following the rules in the early days. Dounreay brought badly needed investment into a depopulating area and stabilised the county for the duration of the site. It is still the biggest employer in the area. Windfarms on the other hand, have brought destruction of peat lands, deforestation and landscape devaluation. They provide big profits for a few, big bills for the many and practically no jobs after construction. I'd rather take my chances with the nuclear site, as would many up her
