thanks for all the comments and advice. I dont think the VMCC will have any records about it. I was just hoping that someone somewhere would know who used to own it. Wild chance but worth asking.

Just found this topic, and saw the reference to Dawsons in Shakespeare Street. It appears that my BSA M20 ex WD came through them in 1961. I am trying to find some reference to it so that I can get DVLA to reinstate the registration number. I dont suppose Dawsons still exists or anyone may have the records from then? I know its a long time ago......but!

Wow, thats great news and information. I was hoping that I may have thrown up the Dawsons name! I dont suppose they still exist, or maybe someone has the records for the bikes they sold? I am having trouble getting the DVLA to give me back the original registration, so need to find some proof. Dawsons, did they get taken over or become some other company? thanks very much

Is there anyone out there who can help me with the history of my old Motorcycle. It is a BSA ex military dispatch riders WM20 500cc registered in Nottinghamshire in late 1961 as 498NAU. I would love to find out some archive material, or photos, perhaps who owned it back then. Maybe they are still around, its only 40 years ago. Any help much appreciated
