  1. May not be posh, but its welcoming, no one looks at you funny when you walk in (had that at john lewis a few times!!) most people dont want 'posh' we just want somewhere friendly!
  2. I for one enjoy going to the cafe at the back of the market, or a coffee in john lewis, or even a subway for something quick! Plenty of cafes and food places around vic centre!
  3. I dont think i ever realised how much i depended on it! Not enjoying having to order online for most of my crimbo stuff & walking to + from work in the dark, late at night
  4. I go in B&M for cleaning things, house things, toys & pet things. they had lots of gift sets and christmas things in there i had planned to get closer to the time. But the car's been having the head gasket repaired for the past 5 weeks, seems like everythings been put on hold.
  5. Was in vic centre yesterday, i quite like it how it is, apart from the mirrors! Wouldnt believe how many people iv walked into turning a corner because the mirrors have confused the hell out of me, or maybe thats just me... lol. Also walked through broadmarsh, its depressing, so depressing & quite simply used as a cut through only! Unless, i fancy popping to the cafe near the escilators, coffee + muffin from that place, lovely jubly!
  6. My inlaw's send us a card from the dog every year, birthdays, christmas, easter....
  7. I remember when mum used to do a roast when i was a kid, we used to dip bread in the dripping! Iv not had that in years!
  8. I use the poundland in colwick retail park, Theyre good for pet wood shavings & i often buy a few bits and bobs for the garden, they do decent tubs that i keep bugs in for my lizard. Although im more of a fan of B&M bargains, although were lacking a car at the moment so not been able to do much christmas shopping there this year, i saw loads of bargains in there a while back!
  9. The willowbrook changed hands a few weeks ago when castle rock bought it. It is now an open PUB to anyone, new menu's, beers & in january its having a complete refurb! So, Anyone been in recently? Or anyone gonna come for a pint? Hey, you might even see or be served by yours truely!!

  11. The willowbrook in gedling has just changed from a members only to a open pub!
  12. Local pub, loving being back behind a bar!
  13. Tonight, to celebrate my new and first job since having little one. Chippy tea from Olympic in netherfield, washed down with a nice cold beer!
  14. Bought a small selection bag of fireworks for little one, but couldn't use two of them because you had to be at least 25metres away. I cooked hotdogs, sausage rolls, mushy pea's & jacket tatties. She seemed to really enjoy it, and stood going oooh aahhh. Next door watched the fireworks from their window with their little one who apparently loved them! We had a sky lantern but decided to let it off at the weekend with written messages to our loved ones who are no longer with us. We did the same last year too.
  15. Decs up on the first of Dec, me and my daughter will put the tree up and then her and my partner/her dad but the angel on top. That day we eat freshly baked mince pie's made by me. I do love the smell of the Christmas box that's been in the loft all year and fresh warm mince pie's! Then the run up, it's buying + wrapping the presents. Christmas eve at my parents, Christmas day dinner with my side of the family then boxing day at the in-laws. Same as every year, although I would love to cook everyone a Christmas dinner myself one year!
  16. Using left overs today. Some puff pastry from the freezer, left over mozzarella + pesto. Spread pesto on the middle of pastry, add slices of mozzarella & tomato, bake and serve with a salad
  17. Bought some salmon and sliced it open from the side. Added in mozzarella and a dollop of green pesto & baked. Served with baby tatties & a leafy salad.
  18. We had a Jamaican curry, packed with veggies - potatoes, broccoli, pea's, peppers, onions and mushrooms with chopped chicken breast. Served with rice + black eyed pea's boiled together in chicken stock. Yum!
  19. My old house was horrible to live in. The day I moved in, about 2am I was woke by a loud crash, I found some canvas pictures and a framed pic was on the other side of the room that I laid them down from, and broken! The day I went into labor, I walked upstairs to see a little old fashioned boy standing in my bathroom, looking right at me! I got a 'medium' in who didn't know me or the house and she told me a little boy died from an illness shortly after the house was built. I did some research and found this to be true... Spooky. I couldn't put my daughter's playpen in the dinning room if t
  20. Did the same as my last post this evening, 'sept I put a little honey on the parsnips and I used a harliquin squash (much tastier than butternut!) Used a little fry light instead of oil and it had much more flavour than using oil. To follow - some home made birthday cake from our neighbors little ones first birthday, yum! Much needed after a day of hard work!
  21. I live right near the co op in netherfield, so could simply walk around. Theres been a few occasions Iv been caught out and not had any 'blue milk' and my daughters wanted her morning bottle. So it'd be handy to have it on the doorstep ready, and iv always been told the stuff in a glass bottle is a lot fresher than what we buy from shops. Not sure how true that it though.. Been on the milk and more website, they're about 20p more expensive than the shops.
  22. Does anyone know if we still have any 'traditional' milk men about? Without having to place an order online every night?
  23. When I was a kid, we had a milk man who would deliver our milk every couple of days, mum would leave a note & the owed money in an empty, washed milk bottle for him to collect when he delivered to us. He also delivered us pop in glass bottles too! I still remember the taste of the dandelion and burdock and the limeade. Nothing tastes like that stuff. I grew up having a milk man, but since moving out & a couple of years previous, it sort of fizzled out. Now I don't even hear the motor of the milk float as it drives past in the early hours. I'd love a milk man to deliver every couple of
