  1. I'll stay with the little gas cooker and camp kettle for coffee for the time being Phil although cocktails does sound good Rog
  2. Not yet mate, sometime in the week though, enjoying watching it Rog
  3. Dry shed, carpeted floor, magneto wrapped in an old towel, the telly, VCR and DVD player all good in fact I was watching a dvd about railways in there in the week, very cosy Rog
  4. Fitted the magneto back on the Lister D today, I always take it off and store it in my shed over winter to stop the damp getting into it, anyway all went well, all lubrication points oiled, water tank filled and some petrol put in the tank, two turns of the starting handle and away it went, sounded great and never missed a beat, I ran it till the water in the tank started steaming which took about fifteen minutes then I shut it down, I will drain the water off when it cools down in cast there's a risk of frost, next week I'll start the Lister ST1 diesel and give that a good run
  5. Nice cycle ride this morning, not too bad riding out towards Aubourn and Haddington but hard work coming back against the strong wind, good exercise though gets the heart pumping and the lungs working, after getting home and having a coffee I decided to go out on the bike again this time to Bassingham where I take the R10 for a walk around the farmyard and barns, three pigeons dispatched, met up with the farmer on my way back and spent the next half hour putting the world to right and discussing all things farming, all in all not a bad day and some health benefit exercises thrown in for good m
  6. He did, A t*t head on eggheads, can't stand the idiot, flims all his cycle rides in the hope he can catch a motorist doing sommat wrong Rog
  7. Probably "Notts Piscatorials" Oz, they own a lot of waters in that area, long waiting list to join their club though Rog
  8. Not much interested in fishing gravel pits I just want to fish the upper Witham near to home because it reminds me of the Fairham brook I used to fish as a kid not very deep and only about fifteen feet wide, there are ex gravel pits near me and I was part of the management team there when they was working gravel pits but at forty quid a day ticket I don't think I'll bother Rog
  9. The river is still high carrying about three feet of extra water but it is going down, could be back up again after todays rain, don't hold out much hope for a fishing trip to the river any time soon and the season ends this Thursday, ah well theres always next season, roll on June 16th Rog

  15. A bus trip into Lincoln yesterday for my annual eye test, a one mile walk to the next village to catch the 09.00 bus arriving in Lincoln at 09.55, steady walk to "Vision Express" for said eye test that was booked for 10.20, all went well and I do need some new glasses, called in at "Snappy Snaps" to get a VHS tape transferred to DVD (Steam in shed volumes 1 and 2 plus "How a steam loco is made") twenty quid which I thought was reasonable, so two good things today unfortunately Lincoln it's self was unwelcoming and cold, a lot of folk wondering around with their heads buried in their mobile pho
  16. Probably checking out the view on youtube or sommat Rog
  17. The poor bumble bee I was talking about was on my path in cold weather, it was struggling to move because he had no or very little energy after emerging from it's hole in the ground where it had probably spent most of the winter, I just couldn't leave it there to die and had to do something and that is what I did, I don't think the human race is in any danger of dying out because I potentially wasted 0.8 gram of honey on a potentially dying bumble bee but at least I potentially gave the poor bee 15-38 days of life Rog
  18. Only if the bees came here on a rubber dinghy mate Rog
  19. I tell you Ian I felt so humbled that day Rog
  20. I found a bumble bee on my garden path when I came home from a bike ride on Monday, poor thing hardly moving so I went in the house and put a drop of honey on a tea spoon, went to where the bee was and carefully picked him/her up, offered the tea spoon with honey to the bee and wow, from the front of its head/mouth came a black tube like thing and from that out came it's tongue and it started to "drink" some honey, anyway after a few minutes it stopped drinking and after a few more minutes it stretched it's wings and started to flap them, a couple more minutes and it took off buzzing away like
  21. I used to get all my gardening stuff from Stewarts back in the 1970's/80's, great staff who always gave me great advice, I remember all those little draws that had seeds and bulbs in them and the garden tools (although way out of my price range) were a joy to hold, just goes to show that by spending that bit more on quality tools does pay you back, I still have my long handled rake and hoe that I clean after every use and I wipe boiled linseed oil on the shafts every season end Rog
  22. Not that I liked your post BK it's just there was no provision for sad if you know what I mean' a lot of teachers back then were ex military and they thought they could treat the pupils on similar lines, (well thats what I think) however a lot of todays teachers just seem to want to pass on some other agenda that generally has nothing to do with education (once again thats what I think) Rog
  23. Absolutely hated my time at school, had no interest at all, Their sole purpose in life seemed to me to beat the living daylights out of me, learned more or less everything I know since leaving the dreaded place Rog
  24. My grass was quite long and as you say Phil far too wet for cutting, however I got the petrol strimmer to work and just gave the grass a light cutting using that, looks much better now although still a bit long but at least it's all the same length so looks much better, the mower would have ripped the grass out and looked a right mess but the strimmer does a much better job on wet ground Rog
  25. Have done that in the past Phil and it works a treat but not having any baskets this year so moss killer it is Rog
