  3. Scotwater bridge at normal level, I think this is the bridge you went over Phil near Norton Disney, private fishing there, you need to be a member of Collingham AA to fish it and it's one of those clubs that aren't looking for new members at this time (or any time from what I've been told) the stretch I can fish is about a mile upstream from here at Stapleford [/ur Did you buy any antiques from Navenby or just visiting, have you been to Mrs Smiths cottage yet for a look around or called in at the tea rooms for a cuppa and a slice of cake? Rog

  8. Nice bike ride down to the upper river Witham yesterday where I have permission to fish to see if the river is fishable yet looking towards the village of Stapleford Looking toward the ranges at Beckingham at normal levels the river is about three feet deep and fifteen feet wide but yesterday the river was at least ten to twelve feet deep and fifty feet wide and really fast flowing, So might be able to have a go at fishing it next week, (weather permitting) Rog

  10. Well since I have set myself up with some fishing tackle, rod reel, hooks, line floats etc obtained a fishing licence from the EA and got permission from the land owner to fish this stretch of the upper Witham it has been in flood to the extent it is over the flood banks and on the fields and local roads so is unfishable in fact you cant even see the normal route of the river so as yet I haven't been fishing so nothing to report on my progress (much to the relief of a lot of you) never mind theres still a bit of bike riding to do but not along the lanes near the river Rog

  14. I have a very nice 13ft Mitchell match rod and a 3000 style fixed spool reel loaded with 3lb line,(although I would much prefer a center pin) I intend using a stick float of medium weight with a 2lb hook length to a size 16 hook, I will be using either bread flake or bread punch as well as sweetcorn for hook bait, don't want any of this fancy bait alarms and bivvies and beds, just walk the banks and cast a few baits then move along just like I used to when I was a kid fishing the Fairham brook near Clifton, I have permission to fish the western bank of the upper Witham between Beckingham range
  15. Talking to a farmer friend of mine who's fields run alongside and across the River upper Witham, he told me I can go fishing there anytime I want as no one else fishes it, I have seen some nice chub and dace along there so think I'll give it a go Rog

  19. It's a powered fret saw Cliff Ton, saves me using a jigsaw on smaller pieces of wood/plastics etc, believe it or not it was gifted to me by a friend from the next village, he no longer does any woodwork due to his health so thought I would make good use of it when making the jig dolls and wooden frogs and bears, Barrie, you can have a job anytime mate, the shed is getting a bit cramped now though and I have to move stuff around to get in and actually do any work in there, I usually do most of my work outdoors but now the colder and damp weather is here I do a lot of stuff in the shed now
