  1. Barrie, keep an eye open for the post over next couple of days Rog
  2. Not forgetting CT you have to be a member to look at the political thing I think so someone just browsing wouldn't have access to the thread anyway, I can however confirm that that "setting a preference to ignore a particular person" does work Rog
  3. The Olde pork pie shop is being re furbished so the front is all boarded up and the entrance is now round the side but didn't see too many folk around there either Phil Rog
  4. Been to Melton Mowbray market today, not a great deal going on, a lot of empty stalls in the covered "tat" market and not many people about, the street market was worse half the stalls missing compared to two years ago, I got talking to a lady who owns the Mrs B's cafe and she said today the market is a lot bigger to what it has been of late so it must have been very poor, shops wise once again a lot have closed down and now empty, there are however plenty of Vape shops, barbers, mobile phone repair shops and a smattering of the usual charity shops, I did see one butchers shop with a queue out
  5. Got no interest in the politics thread whatsoever but some find it interesting so get on with it, I try to post what I've been on with during the day or the garden and hobbies threads but not everyone likes those threads, the historical side of Notts should have more posts I think because they are of members memories, I don't know what the answer is to creating more posts, we need to attract new members how we do that I don't have a clue, maybe a "welcome to new members" section and encourage them to post their thoughts and memories Rog
  6. Nice little trinket given to me the other day, a pin badge of the Raleigh heron, We were given a pin badge when I worked in the fabrication shop at the Raleigh for a couple of years early/mid 90's, unfortunately I lost mine many years ago but a good friend of mine who worked in the design office came to my rescue the other week and gave me this one, I have put it next to a twenty pence piece for scale Rog
  7. Thanks Jill, I'll stick to the usual then Rog
  8. This morning I was walking around Newark and stopped on the market to pick up the usual bags of wild bird food and I notice on the shelf was bags labelled "Hedgehog food", never seen that before so next week I'll pick a bag up and try it out on the ones in my garden Rog
  9. Apparently half of it is close for a refurb or sommat so didn't bother, might go when it's all finished though always a good day out there, there is a lot of groundworks going on at the station too Rog
  10. Had a lovely day out in York today, checked the weather forecast before setting off and it looks like being a nice day but rain coming in about 14.30 so off we went, bit of traffic on the A1 for some bridge repairs north of Barnsley but other than that it was a nice drive, used the park and ride at Askham Bar, £2.40 for the two of us which was nice, first off we went for a cuppa at the Castle tea rooms plus scrambled eggs on toast just under a tenner for both of us, then a walk around all the tourist routes including a walk around the wall and a riverside walk looking at the pleasure boats, ni

  12. These are pheasants Nonna but great to see them all the same These however are Peacocks strutting their stuff on the lane near home a few years ago Rog
  13. Thats why so many motors are written off these days Rog
  14. Mrs B, I've got bean sticks on the garden patch with upturned plastic bottles on top of them and they rattle about in the slightest breeze but has not stopped these cats, the small garden patch is only about twelve feet x six feet along the fence so that leaves around forty feet for the hogs to come in from the fields which they do The little garden patch is just to the left in this picture and as you can see there is plenty of room for the hogs and they go under the shed for the food I leave for them (cats cant get under the shed) Rog
  15. It wouldn't have been reported Phil, but because it's bread and lard island it makes the headlines Rog
  16. I've got to cut the grass this week with the mower so that should pick up any debris from the tree (I hope) and like you I tip the contents of the collecting bag/box on the garden to act as compost/soil conditioner, never thought to use my leaf blower though I could blow the leaves off my grass and into the field at the back of my garden, thanks for the tip Oz Rog
  17. Good on yer PP, an inspiration to us all, keep up the good work Rog
  18. Another very windy day but make the most of it eh?, dustbin day today out here, general waste and garden waste, first job this morning was to (once again) clear all the cat poo off the garden, I've got some netting on the way to see if that helps with the problem (fingers crossed) at the moment my back garden is covered in leaves from the tall tree in the corner of the field, do I clear them up or do I leave them to break down and act as some sort of feed for the grass?, Might try out the powered scroll saw today cutting out some components for the wooden "golly frogs" frogs and teddy bear mo

Went down to the coffee morning in the next village today in my car, got the bike out read to ride there but then the heavens opened up and down came a load of the white stuff, anyway got to the village hall ok and the gent who was supposed to be serving this week had to go home because his wife was taken ill so I stepped into the breach and went behind the counter to serve tea and coffee, I don't mind because any of the people there would do the same for me, anyway, great stories from ex Group Captain of the RAF telling us about his time flying in Phantoms during the seventies, there was a lo
  24. Don't forget those little shoots that appear between the main stem and a leaf stem can be used, let them grow to about two inches, instead of nipping them out and throwing them, cut them off and put them in some water after a couple of weeks they will have roots on them ready for planting in the pots/ growbags or whatever you use, they will grow into healthy plants at no extra cost Rog
