  1. Anyone remember the old Gem, which used to be where Asda is now in Bridgford? I can recall my Mum taking me shopping there in the early Seventies. It seemed quite a trek walking there from Abbey Road! Don't suppose anyone knows when it closed?
  2. Stu, I was just the same until we had kids. Then I HAD to use it......yeuch!

  11. Can anyone remember the bridges that went over Radcliffe Road and Bridgford Road? I'm curious to know when they were demolished. I'm sure the Devonshire Road bridge is still there.
  12. Just when we thought it couldn't get any worse, ie: Munto etc, this happens. Once again Notts are becoming the laughing stock of football. The only reason Notts have got Curle, is cheapness not for being successful. Oh well, hope he does well, for his sake.
  13. Stu, get yourself a copy of " A Last English Summer " also by Duncan, if you haven't already done so. His personal reflection on the game as a whole is very touching, again an excellent read. If he does write about Sir Garry, I'll be first in the queue.
  14. I recommend the book " Harold Larwood " by Duncan Hamilton, an excellent read, I couldn't put it down....

    Ray Trew

A mate of mine has just text me to say Ray Trew has left Notts. Anybody heard owt? On the fans message boards people are saying he's had enough of the personal abuse aimed towards him and his family. If this is true then I don't blame him, idiots.
  16. Thanks for posting those photographs poohbear and Cliff Ton...I can get my bearings now. What I would give to see those views now.
  17. I would go back to the late 60's and early 70's and get to know my Grandad, as he died around 1972. I was in awe of him as a nipper.
  18. I used to get all my T shirts and button badges at Selectadisc on Bridlesmith Gate....was it upstairs or down? I can't remember..
  19. Cheers Cliff Ton. I can remember going into Chesire Homes to their shop and getting goodies for the workforce..I was a snotty 16 year old when I started there, earning about £20 a week!
  20. Jeez Cliff Ton! I can remember the graffiti on the bridge walls!!!!! I'm sure the buiding on the left in the first picture was the tuck shop. Thanks for that, good memories.

  22. My first job was at P Harvey & Son on Julian Road way back in 1980 leaving about 1987. I know it ceased trading but don't know when. Anyone on this site know what happened to the old factory? I'm everso curious...
