Is the White Swan in Basford still up and running or like so many other pubs has it had to close. When I was a youth we used to go in there on a Saturday night and have a good sing-song. The place was very lively and had a great atmosphere but one of the landlords that kept it was sacked for watering down the beer in the early '80s. I left Basford in 1967 to join the RAF and never went back to live there but used to visit when my mum was still alive. It was always a rum sort of place but the humour was always good and I am quite proud to say that it is my hometown. I still follow the Red
