  1. Think RGR had gone to Canada by then ;-)
  2. Watched that game on French TV. Strangely it's not so bad hearing we've lost when it's in French!
  3. Bilbraborn, that's so sad but just be grateful that you visited him before it was too late. We're thinking about you and his family.
  4. RGR, what did you mean about 'wannabes'? Most of us teenagers in the mid 60's spent all our pocket money on clothes, records and entrance to clubs. If we went the Mod route we went to the Dungeon and probably hung around the Square. If we decided to be Rockers ..... well I don't know, because I wasn't one, haha! It's not right to call those kids back then 'wannabes', it was a wonderful time to be growing up, a fantastic time to be a teenager and a great time for us folk of a certain age to be discussing now on this brilliant Nottstalgia site.
  5. It's absolutely true Mgread! Looked about as stupid as the jeans worn very low-slung by a lot of the lads today.
  6. I enjoy watching lots of different sports including cricket. I spent many happy days at Trent Bridge as a child, with my dear Daddy, and since moving back to Nottingham a few years ago I've enjoyed a few days down there, mainly international matches. It wouldn't do for us all to like the same sports, we'd never get in the ground!!
  7. Do you mean the bloomers mgread1200?!!!!
  8. Bilbraborn, so very sorry to read your sad post. I suppose the majority of us Nottstalgians are getting to the age where we will lose good friends due to sickness as well as old age. Remember the good times you've had with your friend, those memories will remain with you for ever, to make you smile.
  9. Oh damn, would have gone to that but we're off the South of France tomorrow for a few days. Hope you have a great evening!
  10. And a bit later, would it be around 1969-70, hot pants, knee-high white plastic boots ( that really ponged when you took them off, so we kept 'em on), and then the rabbit-fur coat on top.
  11. John Motson almost bought our house in Hertfordshire when we were selling to move to Nottingham 10 years ago. He came to view twice with his wife and teenage son Freddy. Such a nice man ...... he didn't buy our house but he spent a long time with us chatting about football, having a laugh about his sheepskin coat etc. I know where he moved to, whether he's still there I've no idea, but understand he bought an old property, knocked it down and built a real Eco-friendly house with turf on the roof!
  12. Thanks for that info Barclaycon. Paulus and others (including me) have already commented on the pathetic commentary coming out of Neville's mouth (on another 'World Cup' thread) but I don't think we've ever used the red button in our house, it's complicated enough trying to turn the TV on !!!
  13. Oh and welcome Karlton, hope you enjoy Nottstalgia as much as we all do
  14. Glad you're OK Babs. It's a good job you keep a spare mouse in your drawers ....... always a safe place to keep one !!
  15. In those days you daren't take your coat off as it would get nicked. These days you don't go out wearing a coat at all in case it gets nicked!
  16. Ever since Phil Neville was recruited by the BBC to comment on football I've voiced my opinion to my husband that he's so very boring. I've never said anything to anyone else because I thought it was just me and I was being ultra-critical. Now, today on Facebook, loads of others have the same opinion of him. He's terrible. Lineker was rubbish when he first went on the telly but I suppose he's improved with experience but I honestly don't think that Neville will ever get any better.
  17. I don't remember the boys having long hair ...... most of them were trying to look like The Small Faces and all the girls modelled themselves on Mary Quant. We were all clones !!!
  18. Let us know when you're over here RGR, we may have a mid-Summer meet-up arranged !!
  19. Susyshoes will give you the exact date in December Babs !!
  20. It's a good photo Katyjay. Mine's around 3 years old, my excuse is that I'm usually the one taking the photos ;-)
  21. banjo, the Mapperley Fish Bar is still there and I think it's still pretty good but we rarely go up there. Panchos (it's on Mansfield Road in Carrington) was apparently very good years ago, before we moved back to Nottingham, and then it was taken over by some other people. It's our local chippy but we'd rather get in the car to fetch our takeaway from elsewhere as the food at Panchos is pretty awful but they stay in business ....... no idea how!
  22. Causerie does ring a bell with me ........ I think we might have called it 'the Cozy'. Can't for the life of me remember where it was though.
  23. I couldn't stand Mike and Bernie Winters either but Shnorbitz was my sister-in-law's dog, she lent / hired him to Bernie for his show and then Bernie loved him so much that he adopted him.
  24. I've never ever had a supermarket deliver food to my home, I don't mind going to the shop and looking (and feeling) and making my own choice. Maybe when I'm too old to drive I may consider that option but in the meantime I'm happy to go and fill my trolley.
  25. On the top photo on Cliff Ton's post # 6, look at the 'ladies who lunch'. !!!
