  1. Mmmm, looks like the gremlins have been messing about, it's not just Bazza but also Sparky having problems. For me topics show that they are locked only when I haven't bothered to sign in. I've only noticed this recently as well.
  2. Don't leave us Bazza. Spend a couple of days on Word, Song and Film Association and you'll be up to 250 posts in no time, as Trevor has said.
  3. As a responsible dog owner I always have our dog on a lead in public places but what I find galling are the number of folk who are out walking their dog off a lead and allow it to come belting over towards us. This is so unfair because my dog (a terrier) on a lead, feels trapped while the other dog is usually 'larping' around us. I like that word larping ....... is it a real word or one I've made up?!!!! Even in places such as Wollaton Park there are signs telling dog owners to keep their dogs on a lead, you really shouldn't be hassled by dogs there. The problem you have though is that you
  4. How was I to know that it's a rubbish news channel?!!!! I did know that it's not a patch on BBC News but like I said, the TV in the USA is generally rubbish, but that's only my opinion so don't want you lot over there to take offence
  5. British TV is still miles better than what our friends across the pond have to tolerate. For me, the only channels worth watching over in America are the Weather Channel and Fox News, whereas my husband would sit all day watching old black and white cowboy films!
  6. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz .............
  7. The buses nowadays should have signs saying 'No swearing', 'No talking on mobile phones', 'No drinks nor fast foods'.
  8. I've no idea Fynger ...... Haven't a clue who wrote the offending posts and I think they were probably deleted before I saw them. The bickering that's going on makes me smile because certain members, particularly Bilborolad, are like a dog with a bone. When everything appears to have calmed down they/he spews it all up again, as if all they/he wants to do is have a bleddy good argument.
  9. Oh I don't know Fynger, it's making ME smile on a horrible wet June morning!
  10. Not quite true Colly, I've learnt to pack pretty well over the years but it's the shoes ...........
  11. It's pretty difficult to buy a suitcase that doesn't have a zip fastening. A few years ago I just used an ordinary little lock on a case when flying to the USA. All fine on the journey from LHR but on the return trip from Miami the Airport Security broke not only the lock but also the little metal things that you use to close the zip. Of course you don't actually find out this has been done til next morning when you get your bag off the carousel. After that I bought the proper TSA locks and who knows how often my case has been opened up for inspection. A friend of ours had a camera go mis
  12. Michael, I just think that Froch is a big head, maybe having won so many big fights he has a right to be but Groves was so gracious in defeat. I don't know Froch personally but have seen him around town. On one occasion I was in a greeting card shop browsing the cards and he walked in. The 2 ladies behind the counter obviously didn't know who he was (I'd recognised him). He made sure they knew who they were serving by telling them who he was. Anyway, he did well tonight but at his age he can't keep fighting for much longer.
  13. The night before we depart. But I lay awake wondering what I've forgotten to put in the case!
  14. The cricket had an exciting finish earlier ...... I watched that!
  15. Benjamin, my husband's paid to watch it, they told him it was due on at 9.50. He was charged £20 ........ it was only £16 yesterday! Expect I'll watch but I don't care who wins I shall be glad when it's all over as I'm sick of hearing the build-up and the rubbish billing it as the biggest fight since the war (although on Talk Sport today they downgraded that to 'the biggest fight for a long time'
  16. Major Oak, Arnold. I haven't been in there for 45 years but it looks a right dump from the outside!
  17. I was young, had a decent proper job and didn't need to be working there but he'd begged me to go and work behind the bar (where I used to go and have a drink with my parents). After that little incident even Mum and Dad stopped going in, haha!
  18. Been there Ayupmeducks! I remember one night when I was working behind the bar a football team came in and each ordered a pint. By the time I'd pulled the eleventh pint the first guy wanted a refill ...... and so did everyone else pushing up to the bar. All the time I was the only person working, while the landlord stood gassing to his cronies at the end of the bar. When he yelled at me for breaking a glass against the pump I told him to stuff his job!
  19. What dates will you be in our fair City Stan? Could be another excuse for a meet-up ....... not that we did much of an excuse! A reasonable nosh and pint in the Roebuck on a Wednesday night ..........
  20. Glad they enjoyed it Michael. So why didn't you come down the Roebuck last night?
  21. I was on a corner in Basford with my two kids as they set off in an open- topped Landrover ((I think it was) on their journey into town for the big reception at the Council House after they thrashed all-comers in the Olympics. It was so exciting! I did get to shake their hands as they turned the corner, it was a great spot to be standing. Got photos somewhere but don't know how to post anyway.........
  22. That's great. I can't understand why they didn't ask for a Nottstalgia team to perform though
