  1. A lovely happy ending and an exciting new beginning for you all Echo. Such wonderful and not unexpected news. Thank you for sharing this journey with us. A bright future awaits.
  2. Hello fellow peds, just checking in from New York (home at last) Now wading through thousands of boxes on the couple of days a week that we get off, but having got the kitchen, lounge and boudoir set up first we have sanity to retreat too. The good news is whilst unpacking I am averaging 10,000 steps a day so obviously moving house must be good for you!!!!!! Sorry Chulla no way will I be giving up my Fitbit, it keeps me on track with my fight against diabetes. Seriously though I'm sorry to hear you have been poorly Banjo, hope you are on the road to recovery. And glad to hear you are so muc
  3. Hello Echo, sorry to hear you have been poorly and hope you are much better now. Worry and stress can certainly take its toll on your body. You must look after yourself too. Its sooooo good to hear your son has had such a marvellous time at the Whitakers and I am keeping my fingers crossed for him. I understand his love for horses totally and know for myself that a special connection you can have. My own mare was a one off, she taught me to ride and gave me such wonderful memories, she was a real school mistress and looked after all my children. She won major events (with my friend riding her
  4. So glad that things are looking positive,Michael. Don't be afraid to share the gloomy news with us as well, we are all with you both on this journey and are here to support you and your wife in spirit if not in body at all times. Best wishes, as always to you both.
  5. Pal Joey with Rita Hayworth, Kim Novak and Ol' Blue Eyes
  6. Stayed at Scampton whilst visiting my daughter a couple of weeks ago and saw them coming in to land in 3's on return from a display. Used to see them practising most days over Lincoln from our old house. Looking forward to our new house next week, should see the BBMF flight quite often, and hubby has been offered a free look round their home after they have finished their displays for the season (He used to be based at Coningsby in his yoof) Exciting times ahead I think
  7. I have to admit I finish packing before paying, otherwise I get the next persons stuff coming at me and scowls as to why I'm still there!
  8. So after several hours I at last have my stats from last week. Thursday... cleaning day and then half day off so we went shopping but I forgot to take my fitbit with me so only 2988 steps recorded from the morning, need to add 1 hours shopping!! Friday, not much better, 3813 but we were on duty and so in the office, to tired to go for a walk later as I had been standing all day (also developed a sore knee) Saturday, much better, new staff arrived (other colleagues retired) so I did the welcome to Sandringham meal (another steamboat) and this after a cleaning and sweeping up around the build
  9. Gosh it's been a while since I posted, almost a week again. What with the site being so busy now so we just sleep at night, and going away on our days off so we have no internet for a couple of days at a time the days are just flying by. So I'll just bring up my Fitbit website and get my past weeks steps from there. BRB
  10. Another British institution joins the greats upstairs. Sad news indeed. RIP Cilla
  11. Love to hear the birds singing, especially the sky lark, blackbird and robin, could listen to them all day. The cry of a new born babe. Next the unmistakable sound of the merlin engine of the Spitfire and even better when accompanied by the Hurricane and Lancaster which is just as well as we will be living within spitting distance of BBMF very soon
  12. Aw Carni, Tramadol is like bringing out the big guns, I really hope this gets sorted soon. Don't let it get you down chuck, just carry on taking it easy. Rog you are an inspiration for an office work day, I can't even get 8000 steps on an outside day at the moment, mind you it might help if the blooming rain stopped. Office day for me, but I got the cleaning bug so decided to scrub the back office floor ( probably due to yesterdays milk spillage and the lingering smell of sour milk..yuk), and did some mountaineering up a step ladder to clean the light diffusers (hubby has a bad back so I wou
  13. Crikey it's a week since I last posted, where has the time gone? Last week was a bit of a blur as we were getting ready for our Prince's Countryside Fund fundraising day with me drawing the treasure hunt map and making the guess the weight of the cake tractor cake, photos of which I would post but since changing to this laptop seem to have lost the ability to post photos, so will have to wait until we have our proper pcs available again. So here are my weekly stats Wednesday 22/7 - 7171 Thursday 23/7 - 7245 Friday 24/7 - a very wet day and the start of our weekend off, which saw us taking
  14. Fynger, don't be silly of course Robin Hood wasn't a myth, he was a mythter
  15. Good luck with your visit to the docs Carni, I hope the new happenings are good happenings brought about by your exercise. Don't worry about your lack of step count, even into the 3000's is not bad, you are still moving about and not sitting all day. Gardening is good exercise even if it doesn't add too many steps to the tally (I bet it's on the calculator that Rog put on at the beginning of this thread!!) A bit of a quiet time for us the last few days. Saturday was my turn in the office, quite busy in that respect and got into the 3000's and topped it up by a walk through the woods and bac
  16. Back to work yesterday and a cleaning day, with some pruning and clearing up of leaves which are already starting to fall - autumn must be on its way! 6410 steps total
  17. So pleased to read everything is turning out well for your son Echo. I think he will have a great future ahead of him and I wish him all the very best. My daughter did her uni work experience on the Whitakers yard and thoroughly enjoyed her work there, I know they will look after him. As for his soon-to-be former employer I sincerely hope she gets everything she deserves, and have no doubt she will, as the saying goes "What goes around comes around" and one way or another she will get her come uppance have no doubt of that. Best wishes to all your family.
  18. Sorry folks missed a few days but looks like you have been busy in our absence. Good to see you're out and about again Carni, hope your ears are on the mend. Ear problems can be so debilitating because they are linked to so many other senses including balance. I know what you mean about the elusive 10000 Rog, I seem to be back on the just above 6000 mark again. The reason for my absence? Our days off this week were Tuesday and Wednesday and still being homeless we decided on a pub stay in the Norfolk Broads at Stalham, so once again no internet and mucho exploring, stopping off at the lovel
  19. Congratulations Loppylugs
  20. I'm sure you will soon be back on your bike Carni, but do as you are doing and listen to your body, if it says no then that's a good enough reason. You have done so well a few days off will not hurt, but take it slowly when you decide to resume normal service A well earned rest for you Rog, I am on average steps at the moment. Office day yesterday but managed a woodland walk (still avoiding the soggy bracken) so totalled 8089 steps. Today was the cleaning regime and I had every intention of lots of outside work but was thwarted by the rain, got some leaves raked up under the shelter of trees
  21. When I lived in an old farmhouse (kitchen dating back to 1600's) I had the deeds and transfers of sale going back to 1784, the oldest ones being hand written on parchment by quill pen and ink. Sadly I cannot show them as I passed them on to the new owners of the house when we left, as I felt they should stay with the house. They made incredibly interesting reading charting the history of the Lownds who originally owned the house. What was really spooky about them was the similarity between the Lownds family and my own, for example John Lownds died on my birthday and was buried in the churchyar
  22. Well, only got through 3 of the risk assessments so far...so much reading and then applying them to the site and noting where things could be improved, this could be a long job, but yesterday was our outside day, so after cleaning and lunch I was busy finishing off the insect hotel, using hedge trimmings (John was brandishing the hedge cutter...too heavy for me) they made excellent filler and some on top too (must get on with the wildlife blog) Popped a roof on and it's ready for the grand opening, already has one resident as a spider moved in as I was completing it. Then watered all the pla
  23. Not a bad day yesterday Rog, good free food is always a bonus, and I don't call 7521 steps meagre.....now my step count for today,3142...that's meagre. An Office day and reading through the corporate risk assessments (which have to be signed off each year as having been read) what more could a girl want on a hot sunny day!! Too tired to go for a walk tonight, though it could also be something to do with the pimms that the warden produced at afternoon tea time! Sorry to hear about the loss of your mother Rog, despite not having seen them for many years it is sad to lose a parent, they are aft

    Omar Sharif

RIP Omar Sharif, a bit of a heart throb in his day, eyes you could melt into.....loved his films too.
  25. Whistling kettles are still available and can be heard on campsites Have to say I thought I would hear a cuckoo this year at Sandringham being in the middle of the woods, but not once, nor come to that have I heard a woodpecker, though often heard them at our old house. Don't hear ice cream vans playing their chimes as they drive round the houses, nowadays they just park up at prime locations and wait. Air horns on cars that were so popular in the 70's
