  1. That's really good going Carni, the hills will have made you work harder so maybe fewer steps but more calories burned. I have an hour and 40 mins to add to my total last night so by the time I had got home my fitbit was reading 5103 plus 4500 for yoga so 9603 for me. Really enjoying my yoga classes. Something I had not thought about but which was mentioned two weeks ago is that after performing a series of moves you are not out of breath but you can certainly feel your heart rate has been raised, and I have noticed at the end of the class even though I have worked hard I really do feel rela
  2. I'm intrigued to see my sprouts when they have grown MargieH. The kit also included tigerella tomatoes (the stripy ones), purple carrots, rainbow chard (which we are eating as salad and very yummy it is too) and yellow courgettes, which are coming on a treat and will probably be ready sometime next week. Well despite being caravan and training notes bound this afternoon, we had a trip to the farm shop and garden centre (for some insect protection for the sprouts) and I have managed so far to total 4451 steps. I have yoga in an hour so when I get back I'll add the relevant steps on. Hope ever
  3. Another office day for me yesterday but I managed to get some gardening done too, planting out the rest of my stripy tomatoes into grow bags and thinning out my red sprouts into a bigger planter (part of a box of "funky veg seeds" that I got for Christmas). Think I must have pulled a muscle moving the planter from the shade to a sunnier spot in our compound, but hopefully that will go with yoga tonight, Anyway steps from all this activity were 4532, then did a walk around the woods (avoiding the wet bracken this time!!) bringing my final total for the day to 7977 Enjoy your new route today C
  4. So pleased to hear your news Michael. Best wishes to you and your wife for the next round of treatment, one more step along the road to recovery.
  5. Brilliant total Rog, you never know what the day will bring so it's always good to have a pleasant surprise at the end of it. Usual cleaning day for me today, followed by a bit of baking for a "guess the weight of the cake" competition at the end of July, when we do a fete in aid of the Princes Countryside Trust. The cake will be a tractor I hope, not having any of my equipment here (It's all in storage) I have got to use whatever I have to hand in the caravan. Should be interesting. Anyway fruit cake made and fortunately cooked well in a very temperamental caravan oven. Will try to remember
  6. A goodly total there Carni, not sabotaged by the teacake, the teacake was counteracted by the steps Back to reality for me yesterday in the office with a lowly 2622 steps having to be boosted by a double circuit of the site, the first half through over my head high soggy bracken as it was just after a downpour. Total steps for the day 6182. Cleaning day today so hopefully a bit more activity.
  7. Such great news to come back to Echo(we've been away this weekend and forgot to take the laptops!!), Hope all goes well for your son, and sorry to hear you have been poorly too, hope you're back on form very soon.
  8. Hello Fellow Steppers, I'm back from a most unbelievable weekend break which I shall cover in hows your day later (probably tomorrow as its quite late now) Rog, I missed your post on Friday, we had probably already left and perhaps they did have wifi at the Bluebell but the first thing we realised was that we had left the laptops in the caravan awning!! Doh! So a technology free weekend for us then!! Couldn't even use our phones as we had also left the phone chargers in the laptop case! I don't know if Alan still owns the statics, the barmaid at the pub told us they had taken them over at Ea
  9. So pleased to see you are back out on the trike Rog, look forward to reading of your travels around the local villages again.
  10. I'm still a day behind Carni! You're doing well at keeping up the stepping results though, glad the weather has cooled a bit for you to be able to get out and about again. Bit of a mixed bag day yesterday ending up with 5135 steps plus 1 hour 40 minutes of yoga so around 9635 total if changed to steps. Been busy picking up cones and taking them over to the wildlife area today, steps being 5586 so far. We are off now for the weekend and are going to Tattershall Thorpe to stay at the Bluebell until Sunday so that we can get to know the area before we move in (in 3 weeks all being well). Not s
  11. I used to love watching the Val Doonican Show on Saturday nights, and was sad to hear of his death. RIP
  12. Phew, cleaning day in the heat yesterday....though I have to admit the shower blocks were cooler than the office. Started the day well, forgot to put fitbit on for first hour and half, and ended day in the same manner, had a shower, changed then went shopping without it so count is not entirely accurate. Afternoon spent watering very thirsty plants and hanging baskets as it was overcast though still hot and then onto repairing bunny damage again in wildlife haven area.....really must get down to updating blog too. final total showing on fitbit 9324 (readjusted on the website site to take i
  13. Hi Echo, so sorry to hear about your son, having owned horses myself, and my youngest daughter was a yard manager for a local equestrian centre in Newark, I understand completely his passion and hope that he recovers soon and is back where he wants to be. I don't know of any jobs in your area but when my daughter was looking for jobs we used to look on the following web site www.yardandgroom.co.uk/jobs/united-kingdom/nottinghamshire Try googling "horse groom jobs notts" for other sites. Unfortunately work with horses is never particularly well paid but you can certainly find a more caring e
  14. Another busy office day today, and because it's month end and I was the lucky one on duty most of the day has been spent counting stock and reconciling vouchers and all that sort of exciting stuff. Managed so to get just over 4000 steps and then went for a trek around the site, through the woods and not get lost, but only one circuit so have a total of 6315. Cleaning routine and outside day tomorrow hope it's not too hot, I shall strive to make 8000 at least. In the meantime folks happy stepping. PS Just had an email from fitbit that I have earned my Serengeti Badge - apparently since havi
  15. Birthday cake eaten at coffee time (yes it survived my adventure in the woods the other night) - lemon and raspberry fresh cream sponge - then a lovely walk through the woods to start the day. A couple of hours helping with the chicken then much sitting and eating of BBQ. Total steps 8384 Back to office duties today, but as it hots up maybe not such a bad idea especially as my shoulders caught the sun yesterday. Hope you manage to get out again before the heat of the day Carni. Not a bad tally for staying out of the sun though. Pianoman still a goodly amount of steps, they soon add up.
  16. Seem to be getting behind in posting just recently. Usual cleaning day at work, then taking end of month water readings, defrosting and cleaning ice cream freezer (in just half an hour) plus trying to scupper bunnies burrowing activities (tell you later if it worked) and still only 6678 steps today.....must try harder but too tired to do the site circuit walk. Day off today and going over to Hillington to help our friends put up a walk in chicken run followed by a BBQ if the weather stays fine. Have a great day steppers
  17. Office day yesterday, but had managed over 4000 by teatime. After tea made a cake then decided to go for a quick blast round the site, through the woods, to burn off the sneaky baileys magnum I had after tea. Which was fine until I realised I had missed or taken a wrong turn...ooops. With the bracken so high it's easy to do. Fortunately came out on a road where some cyclists were passing and realised I was just a few steps away from the Camping and Caravanning Club site which is next door to us. Thinking about my poor cake I power walked back to familiar territory. Total steps 7008, not as mu
  18. Sorry Lizzie, my fault, should have checked my facts Chulla, sorry to hear you have heart trouble, hope you get it sorted soon, and as Carni says don't go googling health stuff. I used to have a medical book in the long ago distant past and frightened myself silly at one stage, the only thing I didn't seem to have was leprosy....I threw the book away and have been in the best of health since (apart from my present little troubles) While I'm here I'll put in todays steps so far....typical cleaning day, so out and about quite a bit and tidied up the Wildlife Area too as well as watering all t
  19. Loved the Avengers, especially Steed and Emma Peel, As has already been said he played the perfect English Gent, and what a twinkle he had in his eye. RIP Patrick McNee.
  20. Well done everyone on the last couple of days. Rog, must correct you, it was Carni who invented the Pedometrist word Wednesday was another day off for us and after a wander round Kings Lynn and some shopping we actually got our bikes out for the first time and cycled over to see our friends in Hillington, stayed for a cuppa and then cycled home in time for chilli, Fit bit was registering around 7000 steps before the bike ride, when we returned home it was on 10690 so it had registered something and that will do for me. (Ride was around 6 miles total and it took us around half an hour each
  21. It's a bumpy road Michael, for both your wife and yourself, and all you can do is support your wife through the rough times and smooth, but not on your own, which is why we are here. Don't ever feel shy of telling us about your journey because we are with you both every step of the way. Chocolate is a great comfort food. Catfan you are allowed some treats now and again, don't deny yourself completely. It's just a matter of one piece of chocolate instead of the whole bar, now and again, and if you can bear it dark chocolate over 70% is best.
  22. Day off yesterday and as we are homeless we had a day as tourists. Hunstanton first and a walk along the front to the Sealife centre, which was full of primary school children (aaargh) but it was a fun visit (we had freebie tickets from the site) and we both even got a medal for touching a starfish!!! Then lunch at the Lifeboat in Thornham - Fresh Crab salad for me followed by Orange Yogurt Pannecotta (yum yum) Back to the van for a cuppa then out for a walk through Dersingham bogs Total for the day, despite all the walking, 8173 not quite up to the 10000 mark but a lovely day. Well done
  23. My Fitbit monitors sleep Katyjay, only it kept me awake wearing it!!!
