  1. My mother was talking about Manton Prams this morning, seems she was a friend of the Notman sisters whose father owned this business. I imagine her friendship with them would have started during the 1940s and endures to this day (two of the sisters are still alive albeit in their 80s),so it should be possible for me to get more information. I'll try and find out more and reply again in due course.
  2. I remember Mount Street Bus Station well as I lived in Wollaton in the late fifties and early 60s. Midland General and Notts and Derby Traction Co used to run buses to Wollaton, Strelley Lane, Ilkeston, Heanor, Ripley, and Alfreton. They also ran to Mansfield and Chesterfield from Huntingdon Street Bus Station. Midland General and Notts & Derby buses were painted blue and cream. Mansfield & District (buses green and cream) was also part of the same group which was actually government owned. Buses going to Mount Street Bus Station would drop you off at the Derby Road end of Mount S

  4. Apologies for replying to a very old subject line but I have a few bits of information for the record for the record... Terry Thorne left Fossitt and Thorne and set up TT Tyres and Exhausts in Cinderhill Road, Bulwell. He also advertised this on the radio, trying quite comically to emphasise the TT bit because most people thought he was still advertising Fossitt and Thorne. He would have been better off paying an agency to do the ads. Someone else calling themselves 'the driving force behind Fossitt and Thorne" took over the Fossitt advertising.
