  1. I've always worn Paul Smith clothes - must have known Paul back in the old days. They used to have warehouse sales where you could buy their clothes very cheap. I also shopped at Birdcage - I remember Chris working there it seems forever, can't remember his surname.

I'll Leave It was owned by the parents of someone called Mandy I believe and I knew Justin and Julia who worked in there.

Micky did a lot of her shopping at Bus Stop - 2 who worked in there were called Jane and Mary, who now run a good guest house in Whitby, where we stay whenever we go up there.

I remember a shop in the Bridlesmith/Byard Lane area that sold amongst other things afghan coats but can't remember it's name.

  2. For your information, there is a new local internet radio station called Radio Rosie, playing mainly music by local artists, 24 hours a day. It is in it's infancy and only has a few artists on at the moment, but does have songs written by my wife and I (as MozMic Frolic) and some of my instrumental stuff (Maurice Moore). If any of you out there write & record your own music, get in touch with me & I'll sort out getting it loaded.

    Have a listen -

  3. It was the Penny Farthing, but I don't remember what it was called when A & M were there. They then move on to a new Ariba on St James Street.

Going back to memories of Long John Baldry - I saw him a couple of times, once at the Dungeon in about 66 when he was with Steampacket (with Rod Stewart, Julie Driscoll & the Brian Auger Trinity) and once, probably 67 at the Sherwood Rooms when he was in Bluesology with Elton John. Was anyone at this gig? I can remember Jimmy James & the Vagabonds and top of the bill the Jimi Hendrix Experience, but cannot remember who else was on the bill and I'm sure there were several more acts. Any ideas?

  4. Back in the 60's, after school, I used to go into the Kardomah on Market Street. We used to sit upstairs & chat and sometimes Alvin Lee would come in with his guitar & give us a few tunes or show us how to play something.

I remember seeing him play with the Jaybirds at the Elizabethan Rooms as support to Dave Berry & the Cruisers - I may have seen the Jaybirds more than once.

    RIP Alvin Lee.

  5. Thanks for coming to the Victoria last night. I hope you enjoyed it even though the sound was not so good there and there was no room for you to show off your dancing skills, maybe next time.

By the way, if anyone has any suggestions of songs to add to our repertoire, please feel free. We would like to play what our audience wants to hear. If you're interested, we have a website and a page on Facebook.

Note: Life of a Rock Star -

    1) on stage, did you notice me trip over a wire and fall into a radiator - good job we don't have any immediate gigs as I've done some damage to my hand and shoulder;

    2) after we had loaded my car with all the equipment, It wouldn't start. I had to wait for 2 hours, getting more & more cold, before the man from the AA came & got me started. It seemed to take me ages to thaw out when I got home. I wonder if Rihanna has this problem?

  6. Thanks to everyone who came to see MozMicDawn at the Lion last night. We really enjoyed playing and it looked to us like the audience enjoyed it as well - much singing and dancing. I'm only sorry than I couldn't spend more time talking. I will let you know about future gigs.

  7. 60s music has a timeless element. I play in a 60s cover band, MozMicDawn, because I grew up in the 60s and still love the music, but also people of all ages like the music. We get compliments about the songs from the very young as well as the very old. And also lots of the songs are known because they're used on so many adverts.

If you're interested, here's some of the songs we play:

(I'm Not Your) Steppin' Stone - The Monkees

Baby Please Don't Go - Them

  8. Greetings everyone. I have made a few posts, but I suppose I ought to introduce myself properly.

Lived in Nottingham all my life apart from a few short periods when I've worked away, I lived in Old Lenton and went to Dunkirk School, then to Mundella. Was a mod in the 60s, went to all the clubs, and played in the Salty Dogs, later I suppose I became a bit of a hippie and still went to all the pubs & clubs.

Worked with computers all my life, at various place in Nottingham (eg Bairnswear, MHS (and later CCN & Experian), Woolston & Blunt, Pedigree Petfoods) and have worked in Coventry, Birmingham, London, Manchester, Edinburgh, Peterborough, Holland, France.

Lived in Carlton, the VIc Centre, West Bridgford, Wollaton.

Played many sports during my life, several years playing golf at Edwalton, Cotgrave Place and Beestonfields.

Now retired from computers, I write & play music & songs, play in a 60s cover band called MozMicDawn, take many photos (always have done) and am busy trying to write my memories so am interested in any old information & photos to fill in all those gaps I've forgotten about.

By the way it was my birthday yesterday - January 28th.

    Hello to this world.
