  5. the heating for the victoria center and most of st anns were heated from the incineratot on london road which burnt most of the waste from nottingham and surrounding areas , it was run by notts county council untill it was taken over by wastenotts . my husband was in the weighbridge for about 15 years untill he retired

  16. we lived 3/4 of the way up saxondale drive facing naworth close , my son-in-law lived on gayhurst green. we lived on saxondale from 1974-1999 then we moved to the coast .
  17. hi alison sorry i,m a bit late with my post , been bacck to nottm for 2 weeks , we walked all over the meadows and beyond. when at school [trentbridge] we walked the embankment 4 times aday thought nothing of it in them days ,no school run in them days , not many cars you see.i remember going to school once in a fog and ending up at the paddling pool, didnt know where we were walking, you dont get peasoupers like that anymore. i could go on for ever about the meadows , during the war and after but thats another story cheers barbara

  19. i remember pipewood camp but i went twice in the 50s, then it cost £1. 17.6d for a month, which is about £1.75 p . and another one of the dorms was called brackenhurst. the thing i think of most was the date spread we had for tea it was yummy.another thing i remember were the nature walks , and the names of all the wild flowers , even today after55 years i can still name most of them. and what about mr dibbs , anyone remember him ? he had a big handlebar moustache. he thought himself a bit of a photographer and used to go round snapping all the girls. ive heard it no longer there , shame real
