Why should I have to subsidise their travel costs no one helps pay for mine.
If I don't have a car why should I help pay for the roads you run your car on?

If I still lived in Bulwell I'd be travelling on them all the time. Great!

I too love trees it the silly buggers who insist on giving them a cuddle I can't understand.
It's because they love them more than you do. And when they've finished they ride home on the tram.

Well, thank heavens for one good laugh today.

OK, picture this, a tram crossing university boulevard suddenly gets derailed, due to some inconsiderate sod discarded a fag packet,
One of the many hazards of smoking.

Money well spent.

No doubt it's meant to be the Squadron Leader's car - a bit of a character!

What we need are more trams.

'Always mix your mustard daily' - well at least that's what it used to say on the tin.
The best pork pies are made by Curtis's of Lincoln.

Whoever heard of having any sort of pickles with a pork pie? The only proper accompaniment is mustard - and freshly made from mustard powder not the ready-made stuff from a jar.

In the painting above I'd say the bus was more like 1947 vintage than 1957 - they weren't building them like that at such a late date. Judging by the destination indicator and the livery it looks like an East Kent Road Car bus.

This seems to be the car - a Wolseley:

I think Belpaire fireboxes were first used in this country in the 1890s. 'City of Truro' (built 1903) has one:

It would be insulting to name a tram after such an aviation pioneer.
No it wouldn't.

More Barton photos. This softback book was published by Becknell Books in 1982.
Back cover:

The third and final volume, from the same publisher in 1994.
I'd begun to think this third volume in the series had never appeared until I saw it on Ebay.
Front cover is at the Red Lion, Sandiacre.
Back cover is practically the same as the previous volume.

Now today's book. Barton Part One - 1908-1949 by Alan Oxley. Published by The Transport Publishing Company in 1983.
This often turns up on Ebay.
Front cover shows a scene at Beeston Square in 1925.
Back cover is mainly blank.

I'm sorry to say I'm unable to move back to Nottingham solely for the purpose of riding on the trams - tempting as that is.
