  1. Read one Barbara Cartland and you've read them all, so I have been told .Bit like Catherine Cookson !! just my opinion.
  2. Me to ,thought pressed wrong button.
  3. To say chatty in the north east means cheap and nasty.
  4. Nonna, also watched it and found some of the evidence quite compelling. We visited Northern Ireland in November and went to visit the Titanic exhibition it was a wonderful way to spend a day. Very interesting lots of facts and information that was new to me, recommended place to go. If you visit Belfast I also recommend Crumlin Road Goal, spooky to say the least, of the two attractions I preferd the prison.
  5. Pull your liberty bodice down tight keep all your bit and pieces warm and tucked in. Glad to hear not serious.
  6. Brilliant result tonight Forest many thanks from a Mackem, for those who are not sure what that is "SUNDERLAND SUPPORTER"
  7. chin up lass, thinking about you tomorrow. Make sure Chris is waiting with the bigges tbar of chocolate.
  8. Since the liberty bodice was mentioned in a thread sometime ago it keeps popping up in various threads, we all seem to be getting obsessed with it. Never a very comfortable item to wear but it did keep your chest warm. However a little off subject I decided to make some for my miniature dolls think they must have struck a cord as they sell well. Thanks for the idea.
  9. Thank you DJ found it interesting reading but there is nothing that will help the underlying poverty in the area. Poor housing, parents that are to young to cope nothing to stop the circle but a little help has to be better than nothing.
  10. Ask Father Christmas to bring you a bottle of Jameson:s Special Reserve.
  11. Totally agree with you caftan, millions are raised every year yet they keep asking for more, where does it all go. There are some very deprived areas in Newcastle but they are closing after school clubs and breakfast clubs, sometimes only meal apart from school dinners. Do they focus on certain areas/activities never seem to hear about what they do with the money raised. We support the NSPCC and have done for a lot of years the only charity that I can see doing good in my area.
  12. I don't like the new format but I do like nostalgia so just keeping reading and posting maybe one day it will be a "eureka" moment. Stick with it Mick because I and many others will miss you.
  13. Its only on here that i refer to him as hubby !!
  14. Catfan when visiting Nottingham we went all touristy and visited Bulwell, it was a nice day as we walked around noticed babies with the bulwell dummy and the amount of young mothers with a multitude of children, Probably not noticed if I had not read comments on Nostagia. Oh by the way the daft dog fell in the Leen happy days.
  15. Northern men have a habit of saying " the wife " as in the wifes over there/the wifes in the house I think they can not remember her name. Hubby being a Nottingham man always refers to me by name, proper gent.
  16. Cant say this is my favourite ad but - does anyone else find the Money Supermarket ad with the men in tight denim shorts and high heels rather creepy. The one at the end with braces and glasses !!!!!!!
  17. Anyone been called a flibity gibbet - used to think my grandmother was talking about a fairy. As I got older worked it out.
  18. Lovely pictures caftan, your wife has really entered into the steampunk spirit and looks very nice, your top hat is missing !!!!. I had forgot about the festival, we are visiting relatives this week so are going to Lincoln tomorrow hope we have as nice a day as you did.
  19. Good to know that I am not the only one unhappy with the new format ,used to spend time looking at old pictures of Nottingham with hubby. Takes to long to find topics so lose interest, used to enjoy the gossip, like lizzie need to find new hobby now.
  20. will tell him Benjamin maybe you can get together and discuss merits of mussels LOL We are visiting Nottingham beginning of August.
  21. Hubby likes his mussels cooked with celery. HORRIBLE !!! well I think so.
  22. Finally got rid of windows 10 - son put computer back and one very happy silver surfer LOL. He said that if you didn't revert back before having 10 installed after 8 weeks you are stuck with it, also read that a woman in America sued windows for installing without her acceptance messed up her computer and won.
