  2. On thinking about her she never used to swear if she did anything where others would swear she would say " bally thing" thank you imp for bringing back memories.
  3. When naughty as child my grandmother used to say I was a " little so and so" still no idea what she meant. From the north east so it maybe just a Geordie saying, any ideas.
  4. Thank you for information and pics you never fail to come up with the goods, hubby remembers eating them with fried onions. Never seen them anywhere myself.

  8. Oooops not being from Nottingham logged onto this topic thinking snobby people. Have just had full explanation from hubby.
  9. Dolls houses are my hobby, had one as a child then just forgot about it 4years ago as a joint mothers day present my children gave me a 5 story Edwardian house. Fell in love again now have 9 houses ! Am fortunate in being able to make all soft furnishing and clothes for this very expensive hobby, anyone else as daft as me.

  12. Cliff Ton I need help in finding a picture of Palm Villas, Basford. Hubby was born there in the 1940s, I have tried many different sites but only managed to find demolition site with a "lamp post". You always seem able to find what others can not any help appreciated. Gem

  14. Carni, to go with your metal clips I have the metal curling tongs you used to heat on the gas. Remember my mum used to test them on newspaper if paper burnt they were to hot.
  15. Michael, regarding one of the after effects of your wifes chemo, furry tongue. My mum had same problem and was told to place a slice of pineapple on her tongue, the acidity helps for her it worked maybe worth a try.
  16. My grandmother used to say - he/she been hiding their light under a bushel. Mums favourite - stop running around like a fanny in a fit (no offence intended) I was born in the north east so have no idea if these odd saying were used elsewhere. Gem

  19. Sorry Cliff Ton, not a Nottingham native ! I am talking about Bleachers Arms Lincoln Street. Hubby used to drink in there early sixties. Many thanks to all who replied to my questions. Gem
  20. Can anyone help me to find photo of the Bleachers Arms Nottingham Road (locally known as the blood tub) also the Shoulder of Mutton. I have never personally been in either establishment haunts of my hubby in his youth. I have tried the usual sites but can find nothing thank you in advance. Gem

  22. My hobby is dolls houses (12 and counting) like you I buy from china with very little problems prices with free post incredible. Compared with dolls house shops in uk how do they do it !! Mick can you explain "snip tool" please.
