  1. Will 10am Thursday be ok Ben I will be dressed in black wearing a veil, i wish to be incognito.
  2. I did not see the posts that were deemed to be offenisive so can not comment but could those comments not just be removed and leave the ones posted before. We all had differing opinions which is good as the outcome to this will affect us all, we come across things that we disagree with all the time and can at times have lively discussions but that's life.
  3. I would like to share my good news, my eldest granddaughter has after 10 hard months of exams and interviews been accepted into Northumbria Police. Her grandad would have been so proud .
  4. Was going to see if it was still available then read the comment by oldphil decided not to bother.
  5. A lot of money when the average wage would be about £9 to £12 per week, I know someone out there can be more specific. I have never heard of Chatka crab was it available everywhere.
  6. Have been reading this topic and wondered if it is still possible to buy Hucknell Shawls, have looked online but nothing pops up. Have found some pictures they look as fine as gossamer, i realise original companies will be long gone but there maybe local outlets who sell similar. Gem
  7. My aunt and Prince Phillip are both the same age as were talking about him giving up his licence she announced she was still keeping hers, gobsmacked was an understatement I had no idea she still had one. Mum gave hers up long time ago when the arthritis spread into her hands, the thought that all she has to do is tick the right boxes and she could go on the road is scary.
  8. I can see the thought line and hopefully it was meant as a joke but I still think it was in bad taste. My personal opinion we're all allowed one.
  9. I have friends in the village who are keen cyclists and say that I should try it, not having been on a cycle since falling off my Pink Witch I doubt it's going to happen. I watch Miss Marple and other country programs and a woman does not look to good from the rear, could be the rear in question is to big. I'm sure that does not apply to you Carni.
  10. I visited The Cat Shop on my last visit to York also bought an umbrella, as they say great minds in our case expecting rain. Also purchased a scarf/2 mugs/hat and gloves my daughter in law loves her cats.
  11. Carni, i think the short answer is no unlike your post. As I scrolled down thought there was a fault.
  12. All greyhounds must be the same regarding "prancing" Maisie does it every time, there is no chance of a walk here the bank is to steep in either direction. We have not seen a soul today and I am not surprised according to the forecast we can expect snow, but they have been wrong before. Take care everyone we ain't as young and nimble as we once we're.
  13. NBL and Alan exchanged a few memories when they were both with us.
  14. I have seen and looked when you sent them to me me, Alan and I sort of worked out where he lived. It's a very unrealistic hope that one day I could see a picture of just the street. I have downloaded the pictures and printed them they help with the good memories. Gem
  15. My husband was born in Palm street unfortunately even with lots of help from Clif Ton have never been able to find a picture in its original state.
  16. Carni, I never owned a Rosebud bra but my older cousin did, she used to swear by cotton wool in the appropriate places.
  17. If I had known in advance I would have sent the Skellingtons along to serenade you.........Happy Birthday
  18. The Strolling Bones ???? I actually meant to post in "owt about nowt" but never mind.
  19. terrible weather so spending a musical evening with the Skellingtons......must get out more.
  20. We live on Cowbar Bank so it's on the way to Loftus not been inside for many years, mum and aunty prefer the Fox and Hounds. Staithes has lost a lot of its old world charm but it's called progress, sometimes it feels like them and us if you understand what I mean.
  21. Margie, the start of your post is exactly what you could say about Staithes over half of the village is owned by 'outsiders'. That being the case the winter months are very quiet plus mobile phone and internet service is poor. Its nice when people come and settle but most find us to quiet and isolated.
  22. There are no spoken words that will give you comfort, I hope the the messages from your friends on Nostalgia will show yourself and Nicky how much we care. Gem.
