  1. Nonna, think positively it's the only way you have a lovely husband and family who's love will help you through. Thinking of you and sending my love.
  2. Gem

    Why?

Today I collected my aunt from James Cook Hospital and I have the nothing but praise for the treatment and care she received. She fell when out walking and was thought to have broken her hip, fortunately she had not but due to her age 97 they kept her in longer than normal. The only draw back which has been mentioned before is that some staff have a poor grasp of the English language and made my aunt feel unable to ask for things she needed.
  3. Fly, reading your post makes me happy that I have no in laws, or those that I do have I never see.
  4. My first name is Meg not short for anything, I asked why Mum said she and Dad picked it said no reason just liked it. I have other names just as odd.
  5. Nonna, her dogs sleep between her pillows so if I suggest it's put on the outside of pillows. Jo had an over the knee amputation and has since day one suffered with phantom pain, we have tried many things we know that there is no cure but will try anything that may ease it. Gem
  6. Jill, very interested by your remarks on Clary sage oil, my daughter sleeps very poorly due to phantom pain. Looking at different write ups one has said keep away from animals other make no mention, as her little dogs sleep on the bed your opinion would be appreciated. Gem
  7. Jill, "terminally nosey" what a wonderful expression made me smile .
  8. Mum and Auntie spoilt me this Christmas with lots of lovely presents some I had asked for and some of their own, one of theirs was a google home !!!! No idea where they thought that one up or even bought it, at a guess on-line, if I had the courage would throw their tablets in the bin. Regarding white hair we all have it myself since my early 50s, never thought about dying it, couple of years ago I tried a purple/grey wash out rinse I looked like a witch, no comments please.
  9. Sometimes in the silly hours I pick up in the middle of a programme and don't get the full picture but this one kept my interest because of its location. Your mention of the Gun Capital brought back a memory of visiting my father in law after a long absence and seeing armed police on the streets, I found it a little un-nerving, now its the norm. He lived in Broxtowe think it was definitely normal there, no offense meant to anyone living there.
  10. Always sad to lose a pet but we never forget them, the love that they give us is always special. On a different note Ben .......last light in the silly hours when I can't sleep I watched a programme about a man "gangster" who lived on Bestwood Estate his surname was Gunn, his first name I have forgotten, according to the programme he was an evil man who "ruled the estate" with violence . I am assuming it was true if so was a horrible piece of work, did you know about him. Gem Just remembered something else mentioned he stood out as the only Porsche owner on a council estate Lol. Well
  11. Vegetable soup is the only one I attempt usually gammon pieces or a joint, when cooking the meat I add lentils then carrot/turnip and leeks. Not a great cook but this is the one dish I always seem to get right oh and never forget the dumplings.
  12. Ben, him is actually a her maybe a very masculine one but her it is. Look carefully at the sides of the head "curlers" .
  13. Bring back memories, no need for a telephone just open the window and shout.
  14. successs the matching bottle of gin is a bonus, thank you son.
  15. Wrong picture possibly the gin lol
  16. [url I usually get flowers.
  17. [/ Merry Christmas everyone
  18. Article in the Daily Mirror shows a christmas tree surrounded by presents that virtually cover it, the mother says "quite rightly" that she earns her money and can spend it as she wished. By the time her children finish opening their gifts the novelty will have worn off, are the gifts for them or her. I doubt many people will look at the picture and envy her or the children, love and cuddles mean more than a mountain of gifts. Might not be exactly same as original topic but i thought its the same ....spending money to show you can.
  19. Up will pop some smart a..e reply to your post usually followed by a smiley face and the words "sorry just couldn't resist it" . Then in my case i read back on my comment and think "how thick can anyone be".
  20. Hang on in there BK, when they start to laugh at your posts you know your accepted. I speak from experience.
  21. I live in the old village Margie, across the beck in Cowbar. Cowbar is one of the few places that has parking spaces outside of your house, its a rare occasion that i attempt the main bank.
  22. Compo, i have only one word....envy. I have lived as a city girl most of my life so changing to the lifestyle you enjoy would not be practical, although saying that i now live in Staithes thats also quite isolated.
  23. Looking at the second photo posted by Compo i think i could live there, what a view.
  24. Thinking that if we can not shoot a drone out of the sky.......lets hope nobody send us a nuclear bomb or any other kind of bomb.
