  1. The Turf Tavern is now closed and undergoing refurbishment and rebranding as The Hop Merchant
  2. The long way round to regain the Robin Hood line to Mansfield and Worksop adds about twenty minutes to the normal timetable schedule
  3. Local Hyper Supermarket and 1\2pence coins along with ancient manual tills and the local co-op at the end of the day deli section sweeping up all odds and ends of cold meats into a bag and selling it cheaply.

  6. Am I right in thinking there used to be a 700 numbered service run by Stagecoach and TrentBarton that used to go from Sheffield to Mansfield to Nottingham then onwards to Leicester?

  8. Just to be completely obsessive about the site have found out that by 1950s it was a Cash Till saleroom another shop and trade you don't see around too often nowadays.
  9. So far plan appears to be reduction in size of the centre along with the recreation of some missing street layouts. Existing bus station and multi storey car park will receive makeover while the Arndale NCP car park will be demolished to make way for the new traffic and road layout. This will see Canal Street partially pedestrianised and Colin Street fully pedestrianised to create the eventual gateway from the Railway station into the city centre.   13. So much change and loss in terms of bus services over the last twenty years old Barton 32 from Nottingham to Bulwell, the 10 going through Attenborough and now the 18 further cut back to just Beeston to Stapleford when used to be Nottingham to Ilkeston.
  14. Yes it will soon be time for the bus station to move around once more still remember the first bus station in its vast hangar layout.
  15. Just been reading how from the 3rd May the TrentBarton Red Arrow service is to be split into two separate services meaning an end to the direct Nottingham to Chesterfield bus service. "Service RA (Trent Barton 'Red Arrow'): This service will be split at Derby to run in two parts. The Derby to Chesterfield part will have a revised timetable, and some additional stops including Denby Pottery and Swanwick Church. The Derby to Nottingham part will have a revised timetable."

  17. Nottingham City council has boundaries Radford defined to the east by Alfreton Road and to the South by Ilkeston Road so the Players factory site is definitely in Radford.
  18. Noticed this online recently poster for the National Forest and Staunton Harold Reservoir which if you look closely still advises people to catch the irregular 3c service run by Barton buses.
  19. In reply to previous question the site is still owned by Heathcote Holdings who were behind the failed plans for the Island site redevelopment. The council is currently looking at compulsory purchasing the site to push forward redevelopment and cleaning up the eyesore.
  20. Now theres talk of extending the tram across the road from Bardills into Toton Yard to serve the HS2 station then winding its way round the back of Asda to reach the Green at Long Eaton.
  21. I was talking with friends about the old Barton Bus routes that use to run from Nottingham to Loughborough before they all changed with the introduction of the Indigo services. There was the 3 and 10 that ran as far as Castle Donington before taking different routes around the villages to reach Loughborough and the combined 310 sercice that i believe ran on Sundays. What we could not remember were details about the 3c service from Nottingham to Melbourne, we know it once carried onto Swadlincote before being cut back to Melbourne but we would like to know in its last years of operation on wh
