  1. Welcome Mick. The questions don't have to be odd, but it probably helps if they are!
  2. You and me both and I don't care either!
  3. Another thing. Why would someone who is eccentric be classed as a nutter? Surely is just someone who is 'different'
  4. I was tuning a radio for a patient at work when that come on, I tried to listen to it but had to keep going off & err, do some work. Pity you have to do work at work init? How long you been tuning radios? I've been tuning pianos over 40 years now
  5. Got to agree with Catfan. Large dog with loud bark that at least looks unfriendly.
  6. Thanks for that. That is the first time I have ever seen any film or video footage of WBUDC buses. I can well remember them all lined up on South Parade in my very much younger days but I have neither seen or heard much of them since it was sucked into NCT
  7. Well I would never have believed that that little alley would be Greyhound Street. I am assuming that it is the little alley where there is a public loo and NCT bus drivers also disappear down there. Must be some sort of canteen facility for them. Must go down again with my camera, it might be a bit of an insight into how it was prior to demolition
  8. The one I have called Pelham Street - I actually mean Clumber Street Don't know me way round yet
  9. I'm guessing now but is Market Street today just off the map to the left, Queen St/King St today where Wheatsheaf Yard/Hound Street is on the map and Pelham Street today where Black Boy Yard is on the map?
  10. It was a Canadian built B.XX. It was 627 Squadrons own aeroplane registered KB267, squadron codes AZ-E. His navigator was Squadron Leader J B Warwick. The information I have says that 'they lost their lives' in that aeroplane. For whatever reason, possibly already covered in this thread, it doesn't say how they lost their lives.
  11. All of the Bristol VR's I ever drove had ECW low bridge 13' 8" bodies. I have never seen one that was any different
  12. Thanks. National Bus Co. I was thinking of not deregulation. I knew I had ridden on red buses in the early 70's
  13. Bristol Bus Company was owned by Tilling Group. Bristol buses were only supplied to Tilling group operators. Midland General was just one such company, Corpo, South Nottts, Bartons etc were not Tilling Group companies so never had them. MGO Bristols went to Trent (and got painted red) when the unfortunate de-regulation happened in 1974 (ish)
  14. I once knew an F C Bolitho. He lived at Riddings. He informed me that Bolitho was an old Cornish name. Certainly not a common name round this neck o' the woods
  15. I have mentioned this before but my Grandfather was Master Carpenter on the Nottingham Canal. He lived at No2 Radford Bridge Road which was I now believe to have been directly to the rear of the Crown Inn. I am always on the look out for more info on the subject.
  16. No problems at all here with Virging at all. Taken all round I still think they are the best of the bunch
  17. But surely most people would put a message on here saying that they were going --- or not, as the case may be
  18. The Roebuck is the best bet for me on that list. I would be quite happy to try Gooseberry Bush also, although I have not been in it yet. Last time we went to the Roebuck there was no problem with us taking up the entire front room to ourselves! I still think we should keep it City Centre so we can all get there easily and, speaking for myself, on public transport
  19. So what is wrong with us having a 'normal' meet up next month when banjo is here and a special 'do' in November for the 10th anniv?
  20. What month will be 10 years of Nottstalgia?
  21. I had noticed Cliff Tons comment and I had not said anything because I was waiting to see if it as long for someone to make a comment as it took to arrange the last meet. It was close It is time we did it again - preferably not at Joseph Else
  22. Yes I found similar. The reason my Fathers grandparents were never talked about was purely because there were one or two missing. My surname shouldn't be Harvey!
