  1. I've read all your comments but I am not in favour of mass immigration. It is not about what they contribute . How many times do we have to point out that this country is rapidly getting very overpopulated and we cannot keep letting people in no matter who they are. Africans and Asians tend to have too many children which is bad news. Also there are too many criminals coming here. Most British people do not want to belong to a different culture but that is how it is getting. And sorry DJ. I disagree about our people not wanting to work. I work in many different places and see heck of a lot of
  2. When I took over my dad's house, I made a few changes to the garden and moved the lawn over to the other side. Trouble is there was once mint growing there. So every time I mow the lawn I can smell mint. Anyone else plagued with Bindweed?
  3. All the usual rubbish. Anyone able to sell me a wing and a prayer. Both me and the car need them.
  4. Stop worrying. There was a 98 year old lady on TV this morning who still works as a driving instructor.
  5. I remember 'The Whirlybirds', and Smiley.
  6. Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells...................................
  7. Most very poor people who are genuine find ways to get sorted. If you are fit and well enough to work, there is plenty out there if you don't mind getting a bit mucky.
  8. So pleased that things have turned out for the better. Tyrants like that always get found out.
  9. Poohbear. My mum always used to wonder why no TV characters ever needed the loo. Were they all constipated or something? Considering in the Sixties we only had two grainy black and white channels, there was some quite quality stuff. Remember Have Gun Will Travel, and Boots and Saddles. The Range Rider. And that's just the westerns. Emergency Ward 10 ???!!! And the very corny special effects (or lack of them) on Quatermass. I can't believe my mum used to watch that hiding behind the settee.
  10. Now come on folks. What is crap and what is good? Remember the saying about one man's meat? Most of it must be a matter of opinion. I love the Beatles and have on my PC just about everything they did. But not everyone likes this. I think a lot of modern music is crap. But my grandkids don't. I like Rock'n Roll and most of the popular bands of the sixties, also Motown. My work mate is into Jazz. My Dad loved the Dance Bands, but if he heard the Rolling Stones his comments were unrepeatable. That is what music is about. It is something we enjoy.
  11. A lot of your stuff Compo I grow anyway. I have Foxgloves, London Pride (a form of Saxifraga), and Ox-eye daisies and Swan River Daisies growing in my garden. Also Aquilegia which the birds kindly plant for me. I have grown loads of bedding plants in containers although the black fly seem to love my Nasturtiums.

    Sad loss

Just a thought. What happens when they start their own political party? There's enough of them.
  13. Know the feeling. Did the same in Eastbourne. Took me over an hour to find it.
  14. Wouldn't it be too bad if the animal rights protesters got to hear about your lad's employers (after things have been sorted out of course). Oops. Now I'm being nasty. Or maybe it might be a case of horses for courses.
  15. Life would never have been the same without those ubiquitous ABCs. Thanks Pete for letting us know.
  16. Why do all the local kids now say cinemar instead of cinema?
  17. Can you remember mashing in the tea can. Just shoving everything in - tea leaves, sugar, milk and boiling water. Then having to spit out the tea leaves.
  18. We had new Volvos around 1974 on the GCT but can't remember them looking anything like that. Perhaps it is a Daimler Fleetline.
  19. Interesting thought. If this woman is a bully, then maybe she gives her horses a hard time. Any chance of catching her out? She doesn't deserve to be able to employ people.
  20. So sorry to hear about this Echo. My love for horses means that I always slow down and give them space. Unfortunately there are many who don't. If and when your son gets somewhere better to work, this employer needs exposing. I am pretty sure that bullying in the workplace is illegal.
  21. My thoughts are still with you even though I don't get on here much these days because of work commitments. You never know what's around the next corner.
  22. I read somewhere that he was at the same school as Christopher Lee and got to love acting in the same school plays. And died within weeks of each other.
