Bilboro-lad replied to james gibson's topic in General Chat about Nottingham
We'd love to see more pictures. My Dad's shops were further down on Alfred St Central near commercial square. -
Carl Froch - Nottingham Boxer

I can't think of any other sport where the aim is to beat your opponent into unconsciousness. Rugby is a rough sport, boxing is unadulterated violence. It should be banned. -

It beats me how boxing can be seen as a sport. If you were on the street and came across two thugs trying to beat each other senseless you'd be dismayed at the show of gratuitous violence. So why is boxing an acceptable face of violence and thuggery? If it were introduced today as a new sport it wouldn't have a hope. So where did I go instead? I went to see Sister Act at the Theatre Royal and it was fantastic. OK some geezer got shot but I swear I saw him in a later scene as right as rain. They even got a standing ovation, the last one I saw was in 1996. All good fun, no-one was injured, n -
John Denver sang a song about the census. "You fill up my census, like a night in the forest".

Personally I find 'Sir' patronising. I much prefer 'Darlin'.

Yes it's still there. I'm moving to a little house on Highfield Drive up at the top near Standhill Road. Oh and Carni - we were just looking at that pub today. Pretty cheap meals and as it is warm all the doors are open with everyone sitting outside. The place had a seaside feel to it. Actually I can't cook as the house has no cooker and a new kitchen won't be my first priority so I'm going to get one of those little ovens with a couple of rings on the top to tide me over.

Don't mention bull ants OMG. Nasty or what. When I was there a kid put a couple of dozen down the back of his mates collar - and he died. True story.

I will if no-one can visualise what the top of Carlton Hill looks like. But if I were to move to darkest Peru - then I'd post pictures because no-one CAN imagine what it is like there without first going there. It's hardly a silly request is it? You just like to argue.

I don't kill wasps either, they are good for the garden.

Commuting around Nottingham

How about Kegworth or Edwalton? -
I meant where you are now. We like to see where people end up.

Is that a 'lone shark' or a 'loan shark'?

Yes I've just been reading. It appears he may have been bisexual after his experiences at Charterhouse. Interesting chap.

I love the Bible stories, and always have. I'm not madly religious but it really is the 'Greatest story ever told'. Wasn't Graves also gay?
-
Is that Robert Graves the poet? I find his stuff hard going.

It could only have been Charles 1st.
-
Yeah but who wrote the bible? As far as I'm aware nothing is known of the young Jesus whatsoever, other than what artists imagined what the nativity would have looked like over a thousand years later.
-
No-one knows where Jesus was born.
-
Yeah. That many hundreds of years ago that no-one knew he existed. He didn't have a woman in tow either. She came later. (ooer missus).

A ducal palace and a council employee?

Robin started to appear in folk songs in the late 1400s, almost 250 years after he was supposed to have died.

Charles never made it that far. His last night was spent at the Saracen's Head in Southwell.

Why is the Robin Hood airport in Doncaster then while we get East Mids.

Any chance of a photo or two? BTW, What years were you at the lovely Chandos Boys?
