  1. Jimmy Sirrel is buried in the cemo at Burton Joyce. I chanced upon his grave by accident when out bike riding.
  2. What does 'up to 50%' mean? Is it 50% or 10%?
  3. It beats me why people complain about threads. Why can't they just ignore it if it isn't to their liking?
  4. ...and your purse strings in between.
  5. Hey Bilbraborn. You weren't tidying the front garden Monday arvo at about 1.30 were you? I went past your place on the bus.
  6. If they want fifty bucks for a remote unlock then it is encrypted. Either pay up or dump it.
  7. Yes, they've got one or two in Wollaton Hall (stuffed ones)
  8. The back room was used as a disco in 1972 selling beer to underage kids. I was there the night it was raided and shut for ever.
  9. I saw a black and white crow when I was at Martin's Pond earlier today.
  10. If you are travelling to Chesterfield you must be in the UK - why does your clock show local time that is an hour behind the rest of us?
  11. Sounds like a scam to get more money. They've probably used some kind of encryption software that needs a key release.
  12. Where was the old maggot farm? The only one I knew the one at the very end of the private road, next to what was then a Hoveringham lake that was later filled in. My school mate drowned in the Trent under the railway bridge at Rectory junction in 1968. I wonder if Babs knows the family? His name was Alan Frost and he is buried at Carlton Cemetery. Someone still puts flowers on his grave all these years later.
  13. It's not over the river, it's round the bend. The smelly factory (Chettles) make pet food products. Never smell either these days.
  14. It's all gone. Been gone for a few months now.
  15. I once cycled up the cinder path from Robin Hood bay to Ravenscar without my feet ever touching the ground. It nearly killed me in parts but i was determined to do it.
  16. Wasn't Netherfield Lane the old name for Victoria Road? The one near the disused crossing gates next to the old Caroline Club?.
  17. Well the signal box at rectory Junction has now closed, as has the box at Colwick station. I hope they keep the Junction box as it is a nice looking box. In fact I'm going to build a smaller scale version in my garden as a shed when I move. I've not seen the petrol tankers in the area lately either so I guess they must have stopped working too. Does anyone have any more info? I remember the place when it was the biggest marshalling yard in Europe.
  18. Most tips still take it. Just hose it down before dismantling.
  19. I remember the day he died in '59. I was talking to my mate and my Mum in the front garden at Staverton road Bilborough when brother tony rushed in saying Buddy Holly had died in a plane crash. I was 6 at the time.
  20. I thought mill wheel too but searchlight is a VERY good shout, with the concrete as a counterbalance.
  21. You can't have a crush without a push.
  22. That makes sense. Go into any loft and you'll find black dust. The rubber has to go somewhere when a tyre wears down or we'd never need to replace them.
