  1. Thanks everyone . Your more than welcome to share the screenshots where you like, im all for getting this route noticed, the more people that know about it the more info and history gets turned up . Especialy on local pages as people tend to have all sorts of photo's ect stashed away. Mark your modeling skills look very good , There's loads to model and we could do with another model maker. I will send you a pm. Ive not done Bennerley yet. Giltbrook viaduct and the line over it ran at a gradient of 1in100 down from Awsworth junction. so it wasn't level at all. But you cant tell that from p
  2. Here's a bit of a progress update. When we 1st posted here all we had was a hole in the ground with a station in it that didn't go anywhere. I dont realy have much new eye candy to show like what we have shown at the Vic But there's been alot going on. The line now goes all the way from the Vic to Derby Friargate. And also the otherway at Basford North to Colwick. We have basicly been laying the founddations for the route. So its mostly just track and a boring green landscape at the monment. So this is why i say we dont have much to show even though alot has been done. The
  3. Hi mark like you im not old enough to remember the Vic but i fell in love with it too quite by accident . When i started messing around with route building i was looking at Derby and the Friargate line. I knew very little about the route and didn't even know it coneted to the GCR and in to the Vic. Anywayy long story short , and a lot of books and reserch later we restarted the project properly along with learning to 3d model and had a proper go at it starting at the vic. I became fascinated with the place. The route is freeware It will be on UKTS and another site for free when its done. We
  4. Hi Folks. There was a Topic a while back where some detiled scans of old OS maps where posted for the Basford North Station. http://nottstalgia.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=1475&page=8 Anyone know where i could get hold of a copy of maps like these. They would be very usefull for laying the route . Regards Chris
  5. I looked up the B12s . Most where scraped by the mid to late 50's . The very last in 1960. Im sure ive got a photo of one in one of my books near Derby . So they did work the route, question is how often? I guess you would of seen them more often in the early 50's. Chris
  6. Oh before i forget. The accses tunnels to the lifts ran under the platforms underground , Could they still be there? and they just built over them. Ive herd the lower levels of the shopping center are quite a spooky place and there's at least one ghost wanders around down there thats said to be a guy who was killed during the construction of the station in the 1890's Chris
  7. Hi edthefolkie. Maybe the reason i seem to be capturing it is im too young to have ever seen it. So in a way i don't have any memories to what a think it looked like. Ive had to research the hell out of the place from books and 100's of photo's ect. ANd photo's don't lie But im glad i am getting atmoshpere thats the main thing. And god i wish i had of seen it, what a place. Ive seen photo's of it in the early days with all the glass. Didn't do things by hafls did they On a differnt note i came across this the other night http://www.nottinghampost.com/Railway-men-celebrate-Colwick-Loco/st
  8. Hi everyone been a while. But here's a copy of an update i just put on Uk train sim forums . Save me doing it all again. Merry Christmas and a happy new year to all Re: GNR Derbyshire and Staffordshire Extension info by chrisy11 on 24 Dec 2013 12:57 Well as its Xmas eve i thought i better give you guys an update. I had month or so away from the route and TS in general , with work and 1 thing and another. Just needed a break too. We are now back in full swing and have made great progress the last few days. Trying to get the Vic boxed i
  9. I have a Half decent rig i built myself a couple of years ago. There was a big improvment in regards to stutter with ts2013. The trick with it is to lock your frame rates at 30fps via steam. It runs really smooth for me. If i take the lock off i get alot of stutter. The bigest thing with it is to have a good CPU on a half decent motherboard. Ive been keeping an eye on my frame rates while building the Vic . Its still planted at 30fps at the minute. Also the Vic is in a hole so we dont need to plant miles of sceanery around it so that a big help too. It will be interesting when we get out of
  10. Ok The screenshot was more for atmosphere than anything. And now ive looked it is indeed 2P's working Northhampton bound trains. I can't find any photo's of 4p compounds at the vic so my bad lol. My next screenshot is going to be a HST on the south turntable just get you all going
  11. The Midland took over the running of the Vic and the GCR in its later days. There ended up being a lot of Midland loco's there. It must of been a train spotters dream with the mix of Midland and ex Lner Loco's. Im sure i have photo's of Compounds there . There's was also Royal Scotts, Jubilees ect.
  12. Well the Footbridges are coming along now. In the mean time here's a little bit of atmosphere
  13. Here's the video of Hall coming off the south turntable i mentioned.Starts around 3:40 . Looks like the turntables where quite small at the Vic. There's no way they could of turned a big Paciffic Like a Brit or a Duchess there. The hall only just fits on . A bet this happend a lot. I wonder if the North Turntable was bigger than this one? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JBvPRfkpS1A
  14. Im glad you have mentioned Babbington its remeinded me. We need a good photo of the GN signal box on the main line at Babbington . Not been able to find one so far only the distant shots in the GNR books. There's a good photo of the Midland box but not the GN one. If anyone could point me to a photo that would be great
  15. The only one i don't have is Vol 4. Not that i need it for the route . but still would be nice to have the full set. Ive never seen it for sale though. Although i do keep thinking wouldn't it be nice to run the route Grantham, Maybe in the future. Regarding that turntable , there's a video on youtube somewhere showing a GWR Hall class that has derailed on it. It then shows them re railing with another loco. If that happened today they would shut the whole station down while health and safety investigate it lol . The Box looks great Brian:)
