  1. I don't like Trump as a person, but whatever he says, whatever he does, the media will attack him for it. When you look at the opposition, you can see why people vote for Trump.
  2. I walked down Arnold Lane this morning. You can now see the first Pepperpot (Gedling side) standing in isolation now that all the trees and foliage have been cleared away. I hope they're not going to pull it down.
  3. I wonder if they have filled in the old railway tunnel. Does anyone know?
  4. A visit to the pub and a couple of pints for me. Goodbye to the EU.
  5. Interesting to see the political establishment calling on the far left rent-a-mob.
  6. The café can now do hot food again. The arboretum generally seems much tidier than it was a few months ago. The litter problem seems to have been tackled. (I hope these are not famous last words!)
  7. I hope to see your findings one day Rachael. I live locally and helped campaign to preserve the community centre.
  8. There are plans to demolish this old cinema. This would be a real shame as it's found a new use over the last year. https://www.gedlingeye.co.uk/top-stories/majestic-cinema-mapperley-facing-demolition/ Feel free to post an objection here: http://publicaccess.nottinghamcity.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=summary&keyVal=P4YQSRLYMI800
  9. I was too knackered! It was a long way on my 11(?) year old legs and uphill on the way home.
  10. Just an aside. When I was a little boy, I found a five pound note on the road. Stupidly I told my mother. She made me take it to the police station on Cavendish Road. I walked down Westdale Lane, then down Cavendish Road. I handed it over to a bemused policeman, and trudged all the way home again to Mapperley. I should have just spent it.
  11. I despair. Democracy is being strangled by parliament.
  12. This is a shame. I've been going regularly and have really enjoyed it.
  13. My first car was a Vauxhall Nova. It was new, but it started to rust virtually straight away. This was late 1984.
  14. My band consists of a clarinetist, a guitarist, and a drummer. The others seem to have run off to New Orleans.
  15. I have the Robertson's Golly jazz band. Not sure where they are at the moment though.
  16. Can anyone remember a submarine in the Market Square? If it wasn't a dream, it must have been in the early 1970's. I got to look through the periscope at the buildings outside.
  17. Thanks. There is a lot of knowledge here on Nottstalgia (not much from me I should add). I hove to read stuff on here.
  18. They are good, thanks. I was christened there. It still looks much the same.
  19. I'd love to see more photos Ian. I must look into Britain From Above too.
  20. Thanks. Where do you get these maps, this is a great one. They do look like houses and they must have been accessed from Belgrave Square. The younger me must have been looking over the cleared land once the houses had been pulled down.
  21. Does anyone know what the buildings behind the Presbyterian Church facing onto Belgrave Square are? They look like houses. When I was a boy I remember peering over the wall behind the church on Belgrave Square - which by then was the church carpark - at a rubble strewn wasteland with what looked like an old factory behind it. This must have been the mid 70's.
  22. I was always pleased to see Wimpy still surviving in the Broadmarsh Centre. No longer! It closes on Saturday. https://www.nottinghampost.com/news/nottingham-news/wimpy-broadmarsh-centre-closing-2387343
  23. Now that we have shown how much publicity and disruption can be caused by a drone, this could well happen again. Every idiot will be at it, and terrorists will be rubbing their hands together in excitement. We seems to be totally pathetic, and unable to do anything in this country.
