There is now a café at the arboretum.

I never thought that the NEP's website could get any worse... but it has.

The Nottingham Suburban Railway

It'll be a real shame if vol.3 never sees the light of day. -
I used to get the Telegraph every day, but nowadays just on a Saturday. I remember in my youth my parents had the Evening Post and Telegraph every day, while i got the Victor comic once a week and my brother and sister also got a weekly comic delivered. We must have kept the newsagent going in those days!

It is strange how liberals are increasingly coming across as hate-filled anti-democratic bigot's, isn't it? They cannot tolerate any other opinion than their own.

One of the problems we have in the western world is the media. They are drawn from the same types of people, have the same beliefs, do not speak to ordinary folk, and are flabergasted when they are opposed/rejected. I don't remember reading anything positive about Trump all year. Surely there must be some positives?

We're actually celebrating that the gunpowder plot failed.

I never thought it would happen, but it looks like Peggers is to re-open. Hopefully it will go back to being the 'Fox and Grapes' as that is a much better name for a pub.

My grandparents went to the church on the corner of Villa Road when they moved to Nottingham in the 1920's from Scotland. It was Presbyterian. The congregation later merged with another Presbyterian church (St Andrews on Goldsmith Street). I think the church on Mansfield Road was St Columba's.

There is a film of the wreckage here.

I remember the Daily Telegraph ran an obituary for him a few years ago by mistake. Unfortunately there is no mistake this time.

It seems these pubs are safe-ish, thanks to CAMRA. Including the Old Angel.

I'm surprised those shops still exist even though they're all different from what they were 30 years ago. I used to buy comics and singles from the newsagent, and sweets from the Shippos. 40 odd years ago now.

Ridiculous. He was a poor choice in the first place, but you can't expect miracles in just 12 games.

I encountered a right nutter this morning. Sitting at a junction waiting for a space to pull out into heavy traffic. Up behind comes a scooter. He mounted the pavement, overtook me on the inside and weaved back onto the main road just in front of me.

29 Upper Parliament Street, Nottingham
DavidA replied to Caroline's topic in Nottingham Companies Then and Now
Yes, there is little of value being built in these degenerate days. Nothing that will stand the test of time. -

Architects knew their stuff in those days. They've really lost the plot since then. Short term, ugly, concrete & glass have appeared all over the place. -
Fox and Crown - isn't that the Alcazar brewery pub? It always seems packed when I go.
