Avenue Garage owned by my neighbour Jack Prentice, up to early 1980’s. When he retired and The Avenue site redeveloped, the business moved to Ludlow Hill Road.

The steam loco was there from 1971 to 1978. It belonged to my uncle,and was across rhe road from the farm where the lion incident occured in 1976. The engine is now at the North Lincolnshire railway. And it is still in use. He had another engine on the farm side of the road a few years later.

I lived on the farm whose field it was. The milkman came banging on our door round about 7.am to call the police. I remember ATV News filming in our farmyard. we were advised to stay indoors for 3 days, but no trace of the lion was ever found
